Sail from jamaica to Cayman, Cuba, Mexico
This early April I’ll start sailing again. For that i need one or two good crew members. I met so many new and wonderful people, had the most exhilarating hours at the most exquisite of places, always on anchor, always choosing as if by coincidence the best ...

Boat descriptionExtremely well built British ketch, strong and reliable. These types of boats are no longer built due to the large amounts of material and labor involved. But I have one. I sailed it from the Ionian sea to Israel and from Israel to Faro, Portugal, Madeira Canneries, Cape Verde and crossed the Atlantic. The boat has an Avon Liferaft ( inspected and reconditioned May 2018) a rowing dinghy, VHF w DSC, GPS with 2 backups, navigating using Navionics on a tablet + backup. 6 life vests with flashing LEDs, full set of pyrotechnics, 2 sets of first aid kits. I sail low budget enjoying great anchorages, low cost marina when available, and a DIY approach. We eat healthy, freshly prepared meals, no junk food or processed foods which keeps the costs down as well. 400 L fresh water in the tanks + 100 reserve in containers. I take safety as the utmost priority when sailing. Next is the comfort of the crew and the good times. No alcohol when sailing. Need to be completely committed to the operation and maintenance of the boat and respect all crew. Positive energy on board is most important. Ego stays on shore. Think positive. The boat is built to keep course, and she does so wonderfully, minimising the need to run the autopilot. This is partly thanks to the mizzen sail. She is not a race boat and I'm not in a hurry. She does 4-5 knots regularly, and we've seen her do 13 surfing down waves. The boat is very comfortable. Two heads. Shower w hot water. Master cabin, V berth cabin, double berth in the salon + another single berth opposite. Fully equipped kitchen and very cold seawater cooled fridge. Great cockpit and cabin spaces. Lots of storage space. Engine is OM636 Mercedes, one of the most simple and reliable marine diesel engines ever used on sailboats and it has low consumption. Most of the systems are mechanical, which keeps both energy requirements and maintenance costs down. Join and enjoy. Lots of learning too.
