Sea Miles 10,000+
I like to say that I am a wise old salty dog.
But I'm not so old that I can't still follow my dreams.
I'm a man of many interests, and have lived a varied and at time quite adventurous life. I've worked in many areas and lived in a few different countries.
I'm a yacht master instructor and a professional skipper with many offshore passages to my name, including a single-handed transatlantic crossing and thousands of miles in the southern oceans.
I'm always very happy to share my knowledge of boats and the sea with anyone who genuinely wants to learn about them.
I'm comfortable with silence and solitude, and often sail single-handed, but I also enjoy good company and good conversation.
In people, I value authenticity, kindness and curiosity. I deal poorly with overbearing personalties, and prefer people who are thoughtful and considerate.
I am a committed vegetarian and an aspiring (i.e. failed) vegan. Food on board is vegetarian and as much as possible organic or local, in line with my aspirations to be kind to all beings and do as little damage as possible to the planet. It's best if people sailing with me share these aspirations. I'm happy to accommodate vegans as long as they can tolerate my cheese eating habits.
I do not smoke and rarely drink, so smokers or anyone who likes their booze should find another boat.

Boat description35 foot aluminium sloop in excellent condition and fully equipped for short-handed offshore sailing off the beaten track. Full refit in 2020/2021 in preparation for a trip to the Arctic, which hasn't happened yet (but is now planned for the summer of 2025). The refit included new standing rigging, new main sail, new spinnaker, new anchors, new electric pilots, major upgrades to electrics and electronics, all new safety equipment (PLB, EPIRB, liferaft, AIS distress beacon, 2 VHFs both with DSC, AIS transponder, satellite communicator, etc...). Open plan interior with two comfortable double sea berths + saloon. Galley with fridge and oven (fresh bread most days). No hot water. I've sailed nearly 20 000 miles with her, half of it solo. She's not fancy, but she's a strong, reliable offshore cruiser. She went through another refit in 2024 (new genoa, painting, new batteries, new autopilot, update of safety equipment, etc.) and is now overwintering on the hard in Southern Brittany while I'm away sailing in the Southern Hemisphere on a much bigger boat. She will sail North from Brittany in the spring of 2025.

6Experienced, open-minded & fun
I joined Bezook & Apsara for a trip down the portuguese coast and then on to the Canaries. I am very glad for this 10-days experience - I had a wonderful time on board, Apsara is a beautiful, well-equipped boat and Bezook knows her super well. He is a very experienced skipper who is always willing to share his knowledge; he is open-minded and interested in a lot of topics from astrology to yoga to climate activism, so you can pass long hours at sea with interesting conversations. Bezook is a calm and responsible person who has the habit of solo-sailing, nevertheless he let's you participate in everything and he is always there in case you have a doubt about something on your watch. To make things complete, he is also a great cook! I hope to be able to join Bezook & Apsara again in the future!

Great sailing experience
It was my first real/long sailing trip and I'm glad I've done it with Bezook! He's a great captain and person with a lot of experience to share, that's the best part! He allowed me to learn a lot and definitely passed on various of his passions to me. We crossed the Atlantic together, such an amazing experience and so smooth : he's good communicant, great teacher & cook (very important!) I never felt unsafe on Apsara & found my place quite easily. Don't know what to add, a lot more could be said, but if you have the opportunity just go & enjoy! See you around!

Always willing to share his experience
I spent a week on board of Apsara, from which I took in a lot and had the chance to see the beautiful Portuguese coastline. Bezook is a responsible, patient and contactable captain. I learned a lot from his experience - not only sailing. Thank you! I hope that we will meet again on the waters of this world :)

Very Experienced, and fair
Without having offshore experience, Bezook was understandable slightly hesitant to take me with him for a longer crossing, but he said yes and gave me the chance of a massive learning experience. I always felt safe under his guidance, even in fairly rough conditions. Thank you for the chance to get a first, but certainly not last experience in touring. I felt well cared off and enjoyed our conversations.

Kind and sincere
You will not be disappointed to sail with Bezook, who is a captain very experienced and skilled. I spent 3 days on Apsara and I learned more than in 2 weeks ! Patient, and listening, you'll feel safe with him on Apsara. Also, you don't want to miss his famous porridge !

A true french sailor
I sailed with Bezook and Apsara along the west cork coast for 3 days. Bezook is a very experienced sailor with many Atlantic crossing under his belt. He knows the Irish coast like the back of his hand. Apsara is a safe and solid boat which could take you anyway. Although my trip with them was short, I learned a lot from Bezook who is willing to let you have everything, from helming to raising sail and anchoring. Sailing on and off of the anchor was also a common manoeuvre which not many skippers willing to do. Something I really appreciate as there's not much fun to be had under engine. From his travels he has experienced so much and that really comes across as he always has a story to tell. Definitely a boat in which I would return to without any hesitation. I wish them both all the best in their future endeavours.
