I’m Maria Jose, but you can call me Tote. With a deep love for the ocean, I’ve spent years working at my family’s dive center, Acascuba, in Acapulco, México. Now, I’m eager to embark on a new adventure and join a sailing crew where I can share my passion and skills while continuing to grow in this amazing field.
Why Me?
Bringing me on board means adding a dedicated and enthusiastic member to your team. I’m a PADI certified scuba diving instructor with over a year of hands-on experience. I have a knack for customer service and a solid understanding of safety protocols. Bilingual in Spanish and English, I can easily communicate with diverse crews and guests.
Ocean and Sailing Skills
• Underwater Photography: Capturing the beauty of the ocean is my joy. I love guiding snorkelers and creating memorable underwater moments.
• Freediving & Fishing: These are my escapes and ways to connect deeper with the sea.
• Cooking Onboard: I’ve cooked onboard many times, and with my strong sea legs, seasickness isn’t an issue. Plus, I love sharing good meals with great people. I’m very happy to clean and prepare any fish we catch.
• Sailing & Surfing: I attended sailing lessons as a kid and have a basic understanding of the ocean. Surfing also keeps me connected to the sea.
• First Aid Trained: Ensuring safety and preparedness is a priority for me.
Communication and Content Creation
• Social Media & Content Creation: I have some experience managing social media and creating engaging content, which can help boost your boat’s online presence.
• Bilingual Skills: Fluent in Spanish and English, facilitating communication with diverse crew and guests.
Organizational and People Skills
• Nanny and Teaching Experience: I’ve worked as a nanny, organized summer camps, and been a substitute teacher at a Montessori school. These roles have honed my patience, organizational skills, and ability to manage responsibilities efficiently.
• Cleaning and Simplifying: Keeping things clean and simple makes life onboard smoother for everyone. I pride myself on maintaining a tidy and organized environment.

I’m a good listener, fast learner, and bring a lot of enthusiasm to everything I do. I enjoy dancing, meditating, and simply gazing at the ocean. My passion for the sea drives me to share my ocean knowledge and life experiences with others.
I’m looking for a respectful and welcoming sailing crew that values camaraderie and marine conservation. I’m excited to contribute to daily operations, assist with sailing, and create a positive and enjoyable environment for both crew and guests.
