Friendly English girl look for South Pacific sailing trip
Hello!
My name is Rachael, 30 year old and originally from Southampton. You might think, Southampton, I guess you grew up around sailors! I'm afraid not. I found my love of sailing when I was 23 on my backpacker travels in Australia. I helped put up the main sail on a tour I booked, and the sound of the wind filling the sheets and the engine switched off, I thought it was one of those amazing peaceful experiences which ignited my love for sailing.
Fast forward to 27 years old, a dream of mine to learn to sail had still not happened. I needed to scratch that itch, so I volunteered on a 45ft sailing yacht around the Greek islands for 10 days. A year later, I joined a week long voyage around Sardinia. I was pretty unlucky on both trips as there was very little wind, so I wasn't able to learn as much as I had hoped (but I did have all the time to practice knots and learn boat life etc)
At age 30, I had found another boat leaving from the Caribbean islands to Panama, which is where I am currently.
I am looking for my next adventure, the South Pacific.
After spending some time onboard, I can confidently now:
Help with fenders and lines
COOK - I enjoy making so many meals onboard.
Use a dingy
I actually really like going up the mast (at anchorage)
I am a qualified open water scuba diver and recently qualified Free diver!
