Looking for a Mile building position. I have resided in Florida Keys - Islamorada, for over 30 years. Never sea sick.
Hi - I've just joined Crewbay. I'm interested in finding a position Mile building. I am comfortable on water and owned homes on island in Florida and on beach in Jaco Costa Rica. I have many coastal relations, 30 years worth and growing on west coast Pacific in Central America and east coast in North America from New England to Florida. Other than owning a fleet of jet skis - performing fiberglass hull repairs - can also weld steel - and preventative and wear and tear maintenance and can manage accidental repairs like MacGyver or per instructions or setup marina slip and prepare repair labor, materials, and adequate work space - dry dock or otherwise. I have run a small lobstering export operation and waterside fuel station. Plus, hundreds of hours - over decades - of charter fishing as first mate and simply on water jet skiing; with zero injuries and 5 star ranking. I am 44, can handle my finances and have open schedule for travel as long as I want. I want to learn everything. My pros are technology, an able refit hand, and humble as I am hungry for joy in life with others and for self. My weaknesses: cooking and a weak lower disc in back. Does not stop me from actively living, only not bending over or carrying engines off boat or truly back-breaking duties we all detest. I will ALWAYS work together under Captain of vessel and put in a fair/fare share of work as necessary to keep ship shape, share responsibility and follow orders to schedule. To work past pain; from 30 years of custom architectural wood mill work, I aim to learn ´how to perform all duties’ and keep tight stasis at sea with preventative operations systems checks and repetitive cleaning. Goals: build relationships aboard and learn positions how to and further relations coast ally at marinas around globe and all open waters, improve etiquette and functional boating competence, and reading weather, keeping up morale and reliability of crew and advancement, and implementation - as apprentice myself, to achieve position of master sailor of 100’-200’ vessels - coastal, offshore, and crossings; learn all sailing practices to master open waters and crossing ocean to enjoy well known coasts and - perhaps some new locations - and learn to identify each position on boat to self identify and hire own ‘competent’ crew. Hence, this is why I want to build miles. Learning to cook what all aboard like, I can and will prepare with acceptable agreement. My worst days on board, sick or injured requiring - at most - a day or two of light work - cooking, cleaning, light maintenance - or only a few hours of icing and laying or sitting and good to go. I will arrange proper travel insurance for health and more, as seen fit. Willing and ready. Arthur 203-707-4747.
