Hello and welcome to my profile! My name is David, a 42-year-old Army veteran from Dallas, TX, eager to dive deeper into the world of full-time cruising. I’m on the lookout for exciting crew positions that will help me build experience and work toward my dream of becoming a Captain and cruising full-time.
A Bit About Me:
I’ve spent the last 12 years working in marketing, but I’m ready to transition away from the corporate grind to focus on my true passion – sailing. Over the next year or two, I aim to gain the skills and experience needed to embark on a full-time cruising adventure! To make that happen, I’m searching for opportunities to crew with seasoned sailors and learn more about the cruising lifestyle.
My Background:
• Certifications: I hold ASA 101 and 103 certifications.
• Experience: I have been sailing for three years. I own a Catalina 25 that I sail and maintain. I also crew regularly for local club events.
• In 2023, I crewed on a 4-day, 454 mile offshore passage on a Lagoon 450 from Nassau, Bahamas to Bradenton, FL, that included both day and night watches.
• Skills: I have hands-on experience rebuilding engines (both forced and naturally aspirated) and I’m learning more each day about working with diesel engines. I also have some experience in electrical wiring, soldering, and plumbing.
• Interests: Beyond sailing, I’m into photography, reading, YouTube, music, karaoke, sports, skydiving, and socializing.
