Sailing in the Carribean
My name is Yvonne, I am a 36-year-old German traveler. Three years ago, I first heard about crossing the Atlantic by hitchhiking on a sailboat, and the idea immediately fascinated me. One year later, in 2022, I joined my first boat in Greece. Since then, I have logged approximately 8,600 nautical miles on 28 different boats, with stays ranging from just a few days to as long as five months. My longest passages include Gibraltar to Lanzarote, Porto Santo to Rota, Portimão to Porto Santo, Las Palmas to Mindelo, and Mindelo to Barbados. I have sailed with solo sailors, couples, and a family with a 2.5-year-old daughter, assisted on a refit, spent time in a winter marina, participated in two deliveries, and boat-sat.
I consider myself a beginner with a solid foundation of experience and a strong desire to continue learning. Right now, I am right now on my way to Tobago, looking for a new boat to explore the Caribbean. I speak German and English, don’t smoke, have no special dietary restrictions, and enjoy cooking. If relevant, I appreciate spending time around kids and am willing to assist with boat maintenance.
When I’m not sailing, I spend most of my time hiking, discovering new places, and capturing moments through photography. I prefer nature over cities and love sunsets.
Positive, Eager to Learn, and a Joy to Sail With!
Yvoneche is an absolute joy to have on board! She’s always in a great mood, spreading positivity and good vibes wherever she goes. Not only is she an amazing cook (you’ll definitely eat well with her around), but she’s also happy to help with sailing and confidently takes on night watches. She’s eager to learn and expand her sailing knowledge, which is great to see. If you’re looking for a cheerful and all-around awesome crew member, Yvonsche is your person!
