Interested in crew, mile/experience building
Hello,
I have begun to pursue the world of sailing the last 4 years. I grew up in the outdoors boating and fishing loving the lakes, rivers and waters of Wisconsin, including the Great Lakes and Canada. This new direction has led me to seek certifications in sailing and safety courses. My aim is to continue learning while building practical, hands on experience exploring and navigating different waterways, lakes, oceans and cultures.
My land life has incorporated many technical, mechanical and skilled trades developing me to lead and operate businesses in their daily operations. I have strong critical thinking and problem solving skills with a resolve to deliver the best possible outcome. I enjoy being a team player and value the importance of good communication skills.
I am an athletic outdoors guy who enjoys the mountain lifestyle of whitewater kayaking and rafting, snowboarding and telemark skiing, road and mountain biking along with hiking, camping, hunting and fishing. I have said that when I decide to leave the mountains that I will head to the water!
I have good skills in the kitchen cooking, starting at a young age when my parents first let me whip up omelets for a Sunday brunch. That begining had also lead me into being a breakfast cook for a private cabin here in the mountains when I first moved to Colorado. Fast forward to my foodie stage and love to bring dining experiences home, recreating dishes I have encountered in my travels. The last decade plus, my food preference leans to a vegetarian/pescatarian style with an emphasis on fresh and organic.
During high school I was active in the arts - drawing, ceramics, jewelry, printing, photography. A main focus for me at that time was the Industrial arts/technology education courses covering - electricity, small engine repair/rebuilding, welding, woodworking and automotive power and energy. These courses were hands on learning incorporating the tools, mechanics, fabrication and construction methods of their perspective medium.
I have built a career for the last 27 years in the metal arts industry starting with jewelry and blacksmithing moving into welding fabrication of architectural/structural steel and ornamental ironwork. Along the way I have run similar small companies eventually starting, owning and operating my own fabrication shop. Earlier in 2022 I stepped away and sold my home to pursue and continue developing my sailing knowledge while embarking on a new chapter of challenge and experiences.
