Captain and Chef Couple
We are Francesca and Matteo, a dedicated couple from northern Italy, both licensed captains (RYA/MCA Yachtmaster sailing) with a shared passion for culinary excellence. Excited to join a new boat, we’re ready to bring our skills and experience to your team.
For the past seasons, we have successfully operated a 56' charter catamaran, which we sailed from France to the Caribbean after overseeing its handover in April 2023. Along the way, we’ve developed strong relationships within the charter industry, particularly in the Virgin Islands, further solidifying our professional network.
As a Captain/Chef team, we are committed to guest satisfaction, building lasting relationships with many of our guests, who have left glowing reviews and are eager to sail with us again. As a long- time couple, we create a welcoming and enjoyable environment that allows our guests to feel completely at ease. We tailor each trip to individual preferences, curating every detail from personalized itineraries to unforgettable onshore excursions.
Culinarily, we specialize in gourmet Italian cuisine with Mediterranean roots. We design customized menus that accommodate diverse palates and dietary needs, drawing on our hospitality and restaurant experience. We also offer luxury services like multi-course meals paired with fine wines, sourcing the best ingredients for an exceptional dining experience.
With over six years of experience on charter and private vessels, we’ve completed multiple Atlantic crossings and logged over 30,000 nautical miles. We also have a deep understanding of nautical engineering and vessel operations, with a focus on maintenance, optimization, and efficient handling of various vessel types on the 50’-60’ range. Having overseen the handover and setup of several new boats for both private and charter use, we prioritize safety, comfort, and performance. Matteo’s engineering certifications (MCA AEC1 and AEC2) further enable us to address mechanical issues and maintain the highest operational standards.
We prioritize clear communication with our guests and leverage our social skills, along with fluency in English, Spanish, French, and Italian. We also enjoy sharing our sailing knowledge and are passionate about water sports, frequently offering activities from the tender. Both licensed in scuba and free diving, Matteo has a strong passion for fishing.
