Seeking to sail from Morocco / Cabo Verde / Canaries West to Caribbean
Hello there! I'm an easy going, hardworking guy who loves the ocean and desires to learn more about sailing and living at sea. I have a tremendous love and respect for the ocean and for those who live on her. I am driven to focus and do my best at all times. I take orders well, although I am capable of quick and intuitive independent thought. I am well-suited to living in austere conditions, and strive for simple living. I am seeking an experienced captain to trade knowledge and experience for my hard work and dedication.
When on land or at sea I enjoy relaxing, taking in the beauty of nature, a good book, and a pleasant conversation. I love to learn and challenge myself to constantly improve myself and the world around me.
I grew up on a small farm in western Pennsylvania, USA. Far from the ocean, I took naturally to hiking, climbing, camping, biking, and all of the other natural pleasures on the rigid world of land. I spent as much time in/on rivers and lakes, and I escaped to the ocean as many times as possible over the course of my life. After spending 10 years learning and applying skills for the software and technology industry, I became thoroughly disappointed with the unfulfilled life of an office worker in the crowded cities of asphalt, glass, and steel; hence a greater participation in the more adventurous aspects of life - an intentional life of purpose.
As far as sea experience goes, in 2020 I lived and worked aboard a 60ft trimaran in the Caribbean. We mostly upgraded, maintained, and repaired shipboard systems while also running a few guest charters through the USVIs and BVIs.
In 2024 my brother and I lived aboard the good ship Cassiopeia, a 72 foot gaff-rigged schooner. We spent 2 months fixing her up before sailing 15 days from the Bahamas to Antigua. After racing in the Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta we joined the crew of Green Dragon, a Volvo 70, for a transatlantic passage from Antigua to Horta on Faial Island in the Azores. A few weeks later, we sailed aboard a catamaran to São Miguel Island in the eastern end of the Azores.
Currently, my brother and I are in Morocco, able to get to Cabo Verde or the Canary Islands. We are seeking to crew west towards the Caribbean or North America. Please reach out to ask me anything or to present an opportunity to sail!
