My name is Filipa and I'am from a small fishing town on the North Coast of Portugal, Viana do Castelo. After my studies, I traveled a bit in Europe, living in cities like Paris and Antwerp. However, these recent times I decided to return to Portugal, living and working in the Azores, as an archive and library technician.
It was in Azores that I became reconnected with sea and its activities, especially with the practice of sailing. I took a short sailing course on the Azorean coast and, in January, I returned to the mainland on a sailing trip. This last experience was the trigger for wanting to continue :).
Consequently, I acquired the STCW certificate these last months and finished the competent course, by RYA. I know this current situation does not meet the best conditions, but at least this year, I expect to get as much knowledge and experience as possible.
