Crew available in Las Palmas for Atlantic crossing
I’m Aron from Hungary and currently located in Las Palmas, Spain to join a sailing boat that is crossing the Atlantic to the Caribbeans. My goal is to learn about long distance sailing on the trip as much as possible, and then continue the backpacking journey from Central to South America towards Argentina.
Experience
Approx 850 nm (majority offshore) that includes a 5 days RYA competent crew course around Gibraltar (125nm) on a 37ft Bavarian and the passage from Gibraltar to Las Palmas (approx 720nm) on a Westsail32. While starting from the basics, I have already gained some valuable experience over these trips spending majority of the last month sailing and can’t wait to learn more!
So far haven’t been sea sick, can take day and night shifts (approx 80 hrs watch experience), know the vocabulary onboard, can support maneuvers, feel confident at the helm and with little help can trim sails. Moving onboard with confidence and happy to fish and get some gear ahead of the trip if needed.
