Sailing the Caribbeans January-March
Hey!
I'm Henry, and I'm here to sail! My way of enjoying life is spending time outdoors and living in the moment with good people around me. If you're looking for an easy-going, tidy and a handy crew member, I might just be who you're looking for in your crew.
My next trip will be Curacao-Costa Rica from January 12th-->March 5th. I am happy to go anywhere in the Caribbeans in this time slot, depending on what boat I end up being in!
My dream boat would be one with a crew that is happy to teach someone eager to learn. I want to learn more about all aspects of sailing, and I'm excited to do the work that's necessary for learning.
I spent most of my 20's working as a mobile communications technician, climbing in radio towers and leading a team of 3-5 persons. All the money I earned I spent travelling. Right now I'm a 3rd year university student of Global Development Studies. My goal in studies and in life as a whole is to learn how to make the world a better place (sounds like a cliché but it's true!). I spend a lot of time imagining a society that would be economically, socially and economically sustainable.
What I'm looking for on a boat is good atmosphere and people with good communication skills. Living with housemates I've learned how important it is inside a community to connect with people personally. I can say with confidence I have good social skills and I'm always willing to learn more from people.
I served my mandatory military service in the finnish navy about ten years ago. Living on a vessel for 6 months, I learned the basics of navigation and what it means to be at sea. I've also done some sailing on lake Saimaa, the biggest lake in Finland. This means my sailing experience is at a good beginner level. On top of that, I'm a fast learner and good with my hands.
I'm always ready for a good laugh, a short chat or a conversation on meaning of life, or anything in between! I want to hear stories, crack jokes and get caught in conversations. I also enjoy having my own time reading, writing or walking around.
Of course there's the adventure part as well. Sailing the caribbean has been a dream of mine for many years, and now I'm so happy to be finally able to try it! Seeing new places, learning more about the sailing community and the countries to visit are things that sound very exciting to me.
Also, being on a boat I just feel happy about life. Having a sense of freedom while being in a situation where you always have a little something to do is just the perfect way for me to spend time. I love the feeling when I notice another day has passed doing all kinds of tasks. Now that I'm living in a city I wish I was on a boat, or hiking, just to have the sense of living in connection with the surroundings and daylight.
Let's be in touch!
