Looking for a Voluntary work position – Colombia to the Carribean and further to Europe
Hello everyone! I've just joined Crewbay and am new in the sailing community. I'm interested in finding a position as a Voluntary work.
I am Fran, 38 – energetic, open-hearted and open-minded person from Berlin/ Germany. I've been traveling South America in a sustainable way for more than 2 years now – from North to South and now the other way around. I'm a deep animal/nature and art lover. I love the mountains, the ocean and the sea!
I am on my way to the north coast of Colombia (Cartagena, will be there early january 2025) to join a crew/boat to the Caribbean to cross the Atlantic from there to return to Europe after this exciting long journey full of learning and incredible encounters. And I want to return the way I was traveling here: put my full physical and mental energy in a sustainable project (in this case the Atlantic crossing on a sailing boat) being part of a team, while learning and being helpful however I can.
Originally a graphic designer (more than 9 years experience), I was working for an NGO in 2021, where I worked with political education, permaculture, climate projects (SDG) and workshop development in the political environmental field. Since then I am 'on the road'.
I am a hard worker, responsible, flexible, handy, friendly and curious, active. As a passionate hiker, I consider myself as fit and don’t mind physical hard work of any kind. If have constructed houses and worked on the fields and outdoors in every weather condition imaginable.
I speak Spanish (very good level) and I am fluent in English and German.
As a open minded and communicative, empathetic human I enjoy the exchange and learning process with other people from all over the world.
I have experiences in permaculture; building/construction with adobe, wood and other materials; off grid living; working and living remote and in community; art/design; cooking for smaller and bigger group; general maintenance of any kind and more.
I hope sailing in the Carribean and the Atlantic crossing will be only the first of many more to come sailing experiences. I don’t have any experiences yet, but am eager to learn fast about the sea, sailing and whatever is needed to cross the ocean safe. I am a reliable and trustworthy person. I believe it is possible to explore the world, exchange cultures and connect with people from all over the world without jumping on a plane. I respect and love nature and want to enjoy the privilege of travelling in the most sustainable way possible.
