? Starting late January 2025 for a meaningful project!
My girlfriend, Aline Dequidt, and I are looking to join a transatlantic crossing from Europe this winter, starting in late January 2025. Our final destination is Brazil, where we plan to settle for a year and a half to work on a meaningful project. If the boat drops us off in the Caribbean, that works perfectly, and we’ll make our way to Brazil on our own.
? What’s our sailing experience?
We are experienced crew members.
As for me, I’ve already completed a major sailing crossing from Auckland, New Zealand, to Darwin, Australia—6,500 km in one go aboard a 15m sailboat. That was 22 days of sailing with a crew of four. I’ve also done smaller crossings in the Mediterranean (Empuriabrava to Marseille; Calvi to Toulon), giving me solid offshore experience.
Aline has completed several Glénans sailing courses on habitable boats (level 3) and has also done the Calvi -> Toulon route, providing her with a strong mix of theoretical and practical experience.
? Who are we?
We are two engineers and climate change educators. For the past four years, we’ve been active members of the Climate Fresk association, and it’s within this framework that we’re heading to Brazil.
Above all, we are a cheerful, smiling, and hardworking couple (cooking, cleaning, navigation, etc.). We have no specific dietary restrictions.
?? What will we do in Brazil?
COP30 will be held in Brazil in November 2025. It has been ten years since South America last hosted a COP. We are going to Brazil to develop our association there and represent it during the COP.
