Looking for a Voluntary work, Friendship or Novice Crew position
Hi, I am a solid kitesurfer and a bad surfer looking for a crew that I could join and explore Fiji/French Polynesian beaches, waves and kitespots with! I am having a sabbatical year off work and have been travelling alone starting since October until June 2025. Currently I am based in Perth, Western Australia, where I will stay until the end of February 2025 and would be up to some shorter sailing trips around here. Afterwards, I am planning to move on to New Zealand and Fiji/French Poly ideally but happy to adapt if an exciting offer comes for other surrounding islands. Timewise I am pretty flexible. I am currently working on my PharmD and MBA titles remotely so I will need to spend some time studying, but other than that I am happy to help out with anything needed on the boat. Unfortunately, I don't have too much hands on experience from operating sailboats besides spending 2 weeks on a catamaran in Caribbean, maneuvering a small yacht at Lake Neuchatel and riding a hobby cat a few times at Lake Neusiedl. I am a quick learner though and I am eager to gain some new skills since I have always enjoyed my time on any vessel a lot! Thanks to kiting and surfing I am not new to the ocean.
I am a pharmacist by education and spent past 7 years working in pharmaceutical industry, so I always travel with loads of pills but I don't do drugs. I enjoy living a healthy lifestyle and doing sports like yoga, horseriding, snowboarding or hiking besides watersports. I have been kitesurfing (enjoying mostly wave riding) for 8 years and surfing (mostly longboarding now) for 4 years. I am used to travelling alone as I enjoy meeting new people of all kinds and ages. I am open minded and sociable person that also enjoys a bit of party occasionally or having a bottle of good wine or beer while watching a sunset. I am Czech but I speak fluent English (has been my daily business language for years) and also lame German (partially lived in Austria for 7 years).
I am sure I could be a good companion and as a good horsegirl I can handle any tasks from simple maintenance through basic cooking to yoga or kite skills teaching. Please note that I will be travelling with kite equipment of roughly 32kg and a big suitcase since I will be out travelling for a while.
