Looking for a Novice Crew or Deckhand position in South Pacific
Hi
Myself and my partner, Josh, are feeling called to discover the wonders of the South Pacific!
We’re currently in French Polynesia. Have been exploring Huahine on a motu for the last 3 weeks. We came to really immerse ourselves in the culture!
We’ve been getting into the traditional way of life, harvesting from the land and cooking traditional recipes like breadfruit, freshly made coconut milk for poisson cru, Noni and hibiscus teas, banana leaf wrapped fish on the fire, vanilla de Tahiti.
I’m currently learning Tahitian online. Can’t say I’m at all proficient. But it’s a joy to learn haha
Our initial goal was to stay in Australia and save up to purchase our own boat. But we’re too restless to get exploring!
Our intention now is to get more experience sailing. Learn the ins and outs of sailing, as well as deciding what we want when purchasing our own boat.
That being said, it’s ideal if skippers are keen for us to really help out and willing to pass on their sailing wisdom!
I’m an Environmental Educator by trade. I decided to start travelling Australia 3 years ago. I’ve transferred my skills to work as a tour guide in amazing parts of Australia. Including the Great Barrier Reef and the World Heritage Listed, Daintree Rainforest. I know loads of information about the coral reef as well as tropical flora.
I love nature! I love learning about it and I love sharing my knowledge about it! So if you want some fun facts, I’ll be more than happy to share!
Josh is an amazing cook! Always cooking up new, exciting meals. Recent boat cooking included, boa buns from scratch, tempura veggies, coconut calamari, shallow fried crumbed fish tacos.
Josh also climbs papaya and coconut trees and makes amazing, fresh coconut cream from scratch to put in curries.
We’re both avid water enthusiasts. Josh, is a great surfer. I’m still learning haha. We both enjoy snorkelling and are interested in learning free diving and spear fishing.
Experience:
> I’ve worked as a Deckhand and Tour Guide on The Great Barrier Reef, Australia.
Skills: tender use, basic knots, assistance with docking and mooring, safety of patrons
> Crew member on 13.5m monohul.
Duration: 3 weeks.
Location: Great Barrier Reef, Australia. Contributed to cooking, cleaning, sailing, helming, navigation, anchoring, driving tender. *can provide skipper details as referee*
This trip included waiting out a cyclone for a week.

Neither of us smoke or drink and prefer more wholesome bonding experiences, like cards, board games, a good meal, music or a good yarn. A sundowner drink or smoking by other crew/skipper is no problem! We’re just not looking for a party boat haha
