Multihull: France to Sweden

Hello!

Crew needed to join in Brittany, France on 27th August!

All sailing finishes September 10 when we arrive in Sweden.

So far last winter we have sailed in the Baltic, then up the West coast of Sweden. After that a sail down to Brittany in France, across the Biscay, and then the Atlantic coast of Portugal and Spain. Winter was with 3 months cruising all the Canary Islands. Then back to Portugal, and now most recently navigating in the Rias of Galicia. Now it's Brittany waiting!

Harbours, remote bays, and the upper reaches of rivers, old towns, and the beaches and kite-boarding spots.

From August last year until now 48 different people have joined as crew to sail on the boat! It's been a fantastic experience.

Join for mile-building, or as an experiment for you to see if you get sea-sick, or just a nice place to be for a week or two for holidays.

=== The project ===
I've been using a few different crew finding websites for years now, Crew-bay is a good one though. I've owned a number of boats and have sailed with many different people.

So, why do I look for crew to join my sailing? Firstly, it seems to me that owning a boat is a big responsibility, and a lot of materials and work have gone in to the making of the boat - so it is only right to then share it with others. As I see it everybody on the planet can't own their own sailing boat. Secondly, the idea is to progressively work towards creating the ultimate boating experience for everyone. I need to know how to manage a project, and create the conditions where people can enjoy and contribute with ease. In future I intend to have larger yachts capable of more extensive cruising as well as moving cargo under sail, and I'll need crew then too. This is all part of building that dream, and creating my contact network of like-minded people.

=== The Skipper / Captain ===
I am a RYA yachtmaster, trained in the Isle of White and in the Solent in the UK. I've crossed the Atlantic 19 times, and I actually work on sailing boats professionally. Usually on racing mono-hulls and multi-hulls as engineer or delivery and race crew. I have logged two hundred thousand miles sailed, and counting.

I'm Swedish and am just turned 36. My languages are English and Swedish, but also French. I can understand basic Spanish and German.

=== The yacht ===
This is a multi-hull (trimaran) of 39 foot over all - it's a Kelsall 39 design. Comfortable enough living for 6 people.

It is an ocean going vessel that has completed two transatlantic passages already. The yacht is also perfect for the shallow water areas, and the best anchorages and little hide-away harbours can be found with this boat.

There is a double cabin aft, and a double cabin forward. The main saloon has sleeping places for four people.

No shower, fridge or big luxury on board. It's a simple boat. We have 220V and 12 volt electricity. Mattresses, sheets, pillows, blankets etc. are also available.

=== The Conditions ===
This is a good trip for anyone wanting to learn more about sailing, and simply sail more miles. Walking, swimming and enjoying the good life as well of course.

There is no need to have previous sailing experience, and I'm open to individuals and couples and people of all ages.

We work with shared expenses on board, and in my experience it is approximately €12 per day per person. All included food, harbours, marinas, fuel etc. It's supposed to be possible for anyone on any budget to come sailing! I pay for all materials and maintenance of the boat. Generally ports and harbours are very cheap, so the expenses will never be high. As said before about €12 per day is a good estimate and we will try to do it cheaper. Staying in marinas in the city such as Lisbon would possibly cost a little more closer to 15 - 18 euros per person per day.

I should say that food is preferred vegetarian. Also, alcohol and cigarettes and such things in moderation or even better not at all please!

Hope to hear from you, and maybe even see you on board soon!
