Crew to Help out on a Jenneau 49i

Hi. Im a competent sailer and can handle my Jenneau 49i solo, however sometimes handy to have someone else onboard. Heading to Whitsundays as I live there, then will be doing the Whitsundays this year after April. Currently looking at Bundaberg to Airlie Beach (weather pending) towards the end of February. But plenty of trips after that. Towards the end of the year I will do the sail Airlie to Gold Coast. So ongoing opportunity for someone who wants to come for a sail. She is a beautiful 50 ft Yacht, with private cabins, seperate showers and bathrooms, full galley, plenty of freezer space. Someone who knows something about towing lures would be helpful also.

Bundaberg to Mackay review March 2025

3

I crewed for Peter and found him polite and knowledgeable with sailing (racing perhaps) but a little anxious with coastal sailing in Nth Queensland. He appears to have a lot of racing experience whereas I’ve had 22 delivery and coastal sailing voyages since 2019. These being between Townsville to Sydney and most points in between. The Outer Great Barrier Reef system, around Tasmania, Victoria, Sth Australia and Great Australian Bight journeys too. I’m no expert and always learning. The boat is very well presented but very warm down below. Peter has installed mini fans for airflow and plans to install a very large air conditioner in the near future. Windlass, sails, sheets, auto helm, navigation systems and safety equipment in good and serviceable condition. A life raft would be a valuable addition to the yacht. Peter’s knowledge of North Queensland islands, north of the Keppels, appear to be limited in my opinion. The where and when to anchor type decisions need more experience. Sometimes it’s a better option to keep sailing when safe to do so, rather than anchor in unsuitable areas and or conditions. The North Queensland Islands and reefs are also not the place to lay 2x chain length verses water depth but 4 to 5x as a minimum. For potential future crew. By all means sail with Peter, but previous experience of North Queensland coastal and offshore waters would be of value for a safer passage if you’re in that area.
