Watch: Island FUN!
Crossing the Southern Atlantic! All Experience Levels Welcome!
Looking for the right crew. Number TBD. South Atlantic Crossing! Leaving Cape Town in a couple weeks for Grenada. Will be stopping in Namibia, St Helena, Ascension, Brazil and then to Grenada. From there off to the Panama Canal via (roughly) Martinique, Aruba and Columbia. Just looking for crew for the Atlantic Crossing at the moment.
I am 35,000 miles into circumnavigating. Mostly singlehanded. Been to 23 Countries. Left Los Angeles 3.1 years ago. I just single handed the Indian Ocean Crossing from Cocos Keeling to Mauritius, The Mozambique Channel and The Cape of Africa. It was a barn burner start to finish! The Atlantic Crossing is significantly easier. Looking to grab some crew and make life simpler for this one.

I am not sure how many crew. Depends on who I find. Minimal experience needed. Obviously if you get sick at sea thats a no go. I can teach you how to be a sailor. Trip will be around 4 to 6 weeks. Depending on layover lengths. My life has no schedule. If you have to be anywhere at any certain time this is not the trip for you. I am an introvert at times so must be self sufficient. I have been doing this for a long time now. I love being at sea. The biggest things for me is a positive attitude and honesty.
All responsibilities are shared. Split food cost evenly. Bonus if you can cook and bake. I pay for everything else. Dietary needs are not a deterrent for me. That said I eat meat, you will be asked to cook meat and all food costs are shared despite any dietary needs.
The boat is '04 44DS. Fully stacked with all safety. My redundancies have redundancies. The boat does have Starlink. I cover the coastal cost. Any offshore data is extra from the plan. I also have a spare Starlink, Iridium Go, 2 Garmen Inreachs and an SSB. I need communication with the world to work remote. The boat has two live trackers that are public for any family and friends to watch. I take safety very seriously.
You need to have some sort of social media for me to see. What I have realized in the last three years is it is the best way to peak into someones existence and see who they are. Do they have family, friends, job, traveled, fun....
****Please remember us captains are inviting you into our boats and for most of us they are also our homes. Knowing you and trusting you is just as important as you knowing us and trusting us****
I am filming a documentary on the healing power of the ocean as it relates to mental health, addiction and recovery. 7 years ago sailing, the ocean and the community of sailors in it saved my life. I love being on the ocean and sharing that experience to others. I have spent the last three weeks getting all my certifications for my commercial offshore captains ticket. My plan when returning to the states is to a start a non profit. The goal of it being to bring people in recovery out to sea and open their eyes to the healing power of the ocean.
Please tell me
How old are you?
Any Medical Issues?
Where you are in the world?
How well traveled are you?
What experience (broad strokes)?
Dietary needs?
What do you hope to get out of this trip?
One paragraph on “why you would be a good choice”. No need for a book. Effort reflects interest and this is great guide for me.
Amazing start of a great journey
Hans and I joined the first part of Brian’s trip from L.A to Puerto Vallarta. Brain is an experienced sailor with immense love for the sea and sailing. We appreciate a lot the big importance he gives to safety onboard. The boat is well equipped with everything one can need for a long journey. Thanks for giving us the opportunity to learn from you and join this incredible adventure. We wish you safe travels and endless adventures to come!
