Steward(ess) - Temporary / Seasonal - General (Europe)
Purpose of Role
The Steward is responsible for providing high-quality hospitality services to guests onboard,ensuring their comfort and satistfaction throughout the cruise
The role involves a variety of tasks including food and beverage service,cabin preperation,general cleanliness of the vessel and assisting with tender duties
Main Responsibilities
Guest Interaction and Service
Welcome guests onboard,offer sparkling wine and participate and participate in safety briefing
Provide personal service to guests throughout the day
Serve breakfast,lunch,afternoon tea,pre-dinnerdrinks,canapes and dinner
Inform and communicate with guests about the food being prepared,including sourcing and preperation details
Assist with bar duties and ensure guests comfort and safety throughout the cruise
Cabin and Interior
Prepare and clean guest cabins daily,ensuring beds are made and amenities are replenished
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the saloon,lobby,day heads and other general interior areas
Ensure the bar is fully stocked and ice machine is full
Perform daily and weekly cleaning duties,including deep cleaning of specific areas and equipment
Food and Beverage Service
Set table for meals,liaise with chef on cutlery and crockery requirements ,wine pairings,and ensure cutlery and glasses are polished
Serve meals and drinks
Clear and wash dishes with other crew members
Maintain the dining area
Manage the bar,including preparing and serving drinks
Manage the recording of chargeable drinks and handling bar bills and payments
Provisioning and Stock Management
Assis with ordering and the purchase of provisions for each cruise,in conjunction with the chef and engineer as needed
Ensure stock levels are maintained and rotated appropriately to reduce wastage
Manage and replenishment of provisions and store area
Safety and Compliance
Respond to onboard emergencies along with other crew members until stood down by skipper
Be thoroughly aware of the Safety Management System (SMS) requirements
Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures
General Duties
Assist with loading and unloading supplies
Docking of vessel and other deckhand duties as required
Maintain crew quarters cleanliness in conjunction with other crew members
Liaise with oncoming steward and complete a full handover
Carry out any other duties requested by Skipper,Head Steward or Operations Manager
