Mechanic/Deckhand - Temporary / Seasonal - General (Europe)
The Engineer is responsible for the maintenance and operation of all machinery and equipment on board the vessel,ensuring the safety and comfort of passengers and crew.The role involves performing regular maintenance checks,carrying out repairs,and assisting with operational tasks during cruises
Main Responsibilities
Maintenance and Repairs
Carry out hourly,daily and weekly maintenance checks on all machinery and equipment onboard the vessel
Maintain the daily appearance and well-being of the vessel,performing repairs and maintenance in liaison with the skipper and steward while at sea and in port
Report maintenance required and performed through the Seaflux system and keep daily logs in paper form and Seaflux
Operational Support
During sailing assist on the bridge by keeping a lookout and providing releif helm when not inspecting and maintaining machinery
Operate winch during anchoring,stowage of ropes and bukering of fuel and water
Ensure the tender is fueled up,clean,tidy and in full working order for charter.
Assist other crew members in the launch and recovery of the tender and transport passengers and goods as required
Guest Interaction
Assist in dealing with the needs and comfort of passengers,particularly on arrival and at the main meals times
On a duty rota within the bar area
Safety and Compliance
Respond to all onboard ship emergencies along with other crew members until stood down by Skipper
Be thoroughly aware of all Safety Management System (SMS) requirements
Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures
General Duties
In conjunction with other crew members be responsible for keeping crew quarters clean and tidy
Communicate with oncoming engineer (Written and verbal handover)
Helm tender with guests onboard
Carry out any other duties requested by the Skipper
