Watch: Cruising off of Beachy Head

Owner/Skipper looking for crew to sail to South Eastern Spain from the Solent UK

THIS IS BRAND NEW AD. JAN 30 - 2025

I'm looking for crew with experience, not necessarily a vast amount but no near novices or people that haven't sailed for 3 years or more. Competent crew level or above.
I have a fairly quick Ocean rated 36 foot blue water cruiser. She has had many upgrades in the 2 years I have owned her. She has a Large rig and sail area and recently new sails and latest instruments.
She is currently winterized and on the hard. End of February 25, work will begin to strip off most of the old antifouling as it has been painted over so many times and flaked off in places by previous owners not preparing her properly and using cheap antifouling paint. This time it will be a proper job with the best antifouling I can buy being a non commercial boat. New skin fittings and some of the running rigging will be replaced.
By Feb/March 25, I hope to have 2 new crew members that gel well with myself and want to sign on to sail her down to the Western Med.
I will also need help to get her ready to leave in April so if you are a thinking about owning your boat in the future and would like to learn about boat maintenance, here is a golden opportunity to learn. If you can spend the odd day at weekends or some week days even, you will not only have a deeper connection to the boat but you will also be guaranteed to your spot and Cabin.
I do 90% of my own maintenance and with a professional background in mechanics, electronics and teaching myself, you will learn valuable new skills. Not to mention the new experiences and knowledge you will aquire when we are underway.

I hope to have her afloat by April 1st and leave early in the season. One we have got around the Iberisn peninsular, she will temporarily be left in SE Spain and I/we will return for part 2 in July/August.
I am looking to live aboard her full time in the Central Med next Winter and I have now worked out a way to make this possible with various immigration hurdles to tackle. With just a budget 3 hour flight between the Yacht and most airports in the UK. I just got back from a planning or scouting exercise and I know that it can work out as I imagined it could ?

I traded my way up to this lovely boat by buying and refitting a couple of smaller, older cheaper boats. I own her outright and have worked very hard and spared no expense to have a fast yet comfortable Med cruiser to follow my passion for Yachts, wind and Sea (Not forgetting Sunshine!! ?)

I hope to make new friends and share this lovely Yacht that was built for this type of sailing. Of course I have many friends but none who can commit that much time and of course have careers and families.

I would Prefer non smokers but I vape occasionally to relax if I cant sleep but never around people. Occasional smoking tolerated when not on watch & Downwind!

Please see boat and skipper info for more.....

  • Boat descriptionShe's a quick boat, sails well in light winds and points upwind very closely. A big rig for her size. Full masthead rig with Large Genoa and generous sized Main. 95 SQ Metre cruising chute with snuffer Brand new. SeaGo 4 Man Life Raft Jonbouy Man over board recovery system. Jackstays & Clip on leads & cockpit clip on points Raymarine Chartplotter/MFD above Helm Wheel and can be mounted at the chart table Raymarine EV1 motor driven Autopilot with P70s Head Brand new Garmin Wind sensor and GNX instrument display & through hull Airmar Smart Triducer for depth, and water speed, pitch, roll &leeway angle. All passages are planned, plotted and logged on paper charts and log books. Then the routes and waypoints are entered into the Navigational equipment and as the skipper and navigator, this is periodically checked and cross referenced. If the boat ever lost power, I could fix our position and navigate using the Ship's Compass and a hand bearing compass and the chart. I have 2 hand held battery powered VHF radios as backups. The 2 & 3 year old sails have just been valeted, serviced and treated. I am also replacing all the running rigging that is in constant use under sail. After a couple of shakedown cruises to check she is dialled in and the new crew members are in good shape. Down to Falmouth and onwards!

Went on a lovley and lively day sail on the solent with Richy.I find him to be a competent skipper with attention to safety and knows his boat well. he is also quite a tidy skipper (to my liking) and always keeps the cockpit clutter free. The boat sails well and has all the safety equipment. It is very well maintained and looked after, really clean on the inside too. I would recommend sailing with him, and look forward to do so myself.
