Boat descriptionOur boat is a well found cruising catamaran, which has carried my wife and I all the way from the UK to Australia via Panama, Pitcairn, French Polynesia, NZ, Fiji, Vanuatu etc over the last 6 years. We have plenty of solar power so can keep up with the water demands onboard, and power for all the toys. We do not believe in hair-shirt cruising! Layout of the boat is 3 double cabins, each with their own heads/shower. Fans and USB charging sockets in each cabin. Galley is up by the saloon with 3 burner stove, oven with grill, 2 fridges and a freezer, double sink etc. Sail wardrobe is in-boom furling main, furling genoa, furling screecher, large spinnaker (in a sock/snuffer) and storm jib. Typically we average over 6 knots but we are not racing ;) Usual instruments - autopilot, radar, AIS transmitter and everything repeated over wifi. Onboard media server stocked with plenty of TV, films and books to keep you going on those night watches - accessible over wifi via your tablet/phone/laptop. Satellite e-mail is available when offshore. PFDs for all onboard (always worn at night), along with the life raft, grab bag etc. We have a spare scuba setup (BCD, regs, cylinder, weights) and our own compressor. I'm always keen for a dive buddy (as my wife can't dive). A good sized dinghy and engine ensure we can get to the dive sites even if they are some distance away. Its a strictly non-smoking boat.

Amazing 2.5 weeks sailing around GBR!
We sailed for 2.5 weeks around Townsville, GBR and Cairns. Amazing two weeks of my life. I was feeling safety and comfortable on the boat at all times. Rick is very fair and has a lot of knowledge around his boat and will tell you everything you want to know, I learned a lot about sailing. I would not hesitate to jump on board with Rick again. Pros: - Rick is very knowledgeable around his boat and sailing in common. - Safety of the crew and the boat are on the fist place. - Rick is not a "drunk skipper" - No smoking and friendly environment - He knows a lot of specs :) - (much more pros here) Cons: - He will not give you his catamaran at the end of the trip :))))

Very knowledgeable and friendly
We have had several opportunities to get away with Rick, first down around the Brisbane area, and more recently we flew up to Townsville to meet with Rick and the boat. He is a very commitment and can skipper, happy to show you the ropes (literally). Duplicat is a very well organised and fully provisioned boat with every creature comforts you can imagine. All equipment is to notch and late model. I highly recommend getting out with Rick if you ever have the chance.

3 Months Sailing
From Tin Can Bay to Whitsundays.. Snorkeling Swains Reef, Black Reef all around the Whitsundays. Overnight sailing to get to Lady Musgrave.. Walks on every island we could for amazing views. Drying out in Wathumba Creek .. Everyday a new adventure. Best 3 months ever. Rick is a great person/captain.. We laughed, I learned more about sailing and enjoyed a friendship that will last forever. Thank Rick/Duplicat

Sailing on Duplicat
I sailed with Rick for a period of 3 weeks from Bundaberg to Airlie, diving the Swains enroute. He is a lovely man, fair, safe and knowledgeable. I would have no hesitation to jump onboard again.

2 months and 2,183nm - what an amazing journey.
Crewed for Rick Jan & Feb 2021. We completed some pretty amazing passages - highlight of which was the 700nm shot across the bight. Rick works hard and gets the best out of his crew - he’s crushingly competent and supremely knowledgeable. It was a pleasure to crew for him.
