I’m offering myself as a crew member to cross the Atlantic. I’m also open to other long routes.
Hi Sailors! ⛵
My name is Marc, from Barcelona, and I’m offering myself as crew to cross the Atlantic, from East to West. I’m also open to other long routes where I can continue gaining experience and miles. I’m happy to contribute to expenses, maintenance, watches, and any other tasks needed on board.
I’ve sailed 2,000nm so far, with my most recent 1,300 miles completed this December 2024 on a 27-meter wooden gulet. For this trip, I was in Tarragona, Spain, since November 2024, helping to prepare the boat. My tasks included helping with changing the rigging, repairing and replacing old Sika-Flex, maintaining wooden parts, and other preparations.
In December, we departed from Tarragona and headed south, first to Gibraltar and then to Portimão, Portugal. During this time, it was just the captain and me on board, so my responsibilities included watches (up to 12 hours) , helping with sail trimming, and handling all mooring maneuvers (setting up fenders and mooring lines).
In Portugal, three more crew members joined us, and we continued the journey to Lanzarote in the Canary Islands. This last stretch was more relaxed, with shared 8-hour watches.
Now, I’d love to continue westward, crossing the Atlantic to further improve my sailing skills and meet more amazing people who share a passion for the sea.
I have a background as an industrial designer, with over 12 years of experience in the field. Some months ago, I decided to make a change in my professional life and I worked as a Dockhand at Marina Port Vell in Barcelona, where I assisted with docking and undocking maneuvers, both from the dock and on the water using the tender during the 37th Americas Cup.
I have experience in dinghy sailing; I started as a child with Optimist and later continued with windsurfing, Laser, and Hobie Cat. I’m also part of a sailing club in Barcelona, where I regularly sail a J80.
I hold a PER sailing license with qualification for the Balearic Islands, which is the Spanish equivalent to the RYA Day Skipper, and includes night watch experience. Additionally, I have completed STCW courses in Basic Safety Training, Medical First Aid.
I’m looking for an opportunity to join the crew of a sailboat crossing the Atlantic, from the Canary Islands to the Caribbean. I’m also open to other sailing adventures exploring new horizons. I can contribute my skills while continuing to learn and develop in this amazing sport.
Apart from sailing, I enjoy most water sports and have been trying to learn surfing for years, despite the challenges in the Mediterranean. I also practice climbing, surfskating, and am always up for joining a hiking excursion. Beyond sports, I’m passionate about painting, drawing, and photography.
Personally, I’m a relaxed, easy-going, and very uncomplicated person. I’m also a passionate traveler who loves meeting new people and experiencing different cultures. I’m comfortable living with people of diverse backgrounds and languages, and I’m always ready to contribute to a positive, collaborative atmosphere on board.
If you think I’d be a good fit for your crew, don’t hesitate to reach out. I’d love to connect!

A good Professional
I have worked with Marc at Marina Port Vell for a few months, for the America's Cup sailing competition in 2024. It is a pleasure to work with him assisting sailboats and mega yachts, for their mooring and unmooring and work within the port.
