Looking for Skipper/Captain or 1st Mate position. I have an EU passport & UK Settled Status.
Hi,
(I now have 1034 profile views, and nobody has contacted me. When you have looked at my profile, please send me some feedback. That would help me to see what I need to change/learn. Thank you so much!)
I work now as a sailing instructor at the 'Sailing du Lac' Multisport Centre in Riva del Garda, Italy. I teach in English and German. I will be available again for Skipper assignments in September.
My last job as a Skipper was in Dubrovnik, Croatia, through the summer season of 2023. I was responsible for tours of 2, 4, and 8 hours in length with up to 8 guests aboard on my 34ft sloop (Nau-Ten 1997). I usually taught my guests how to sail, and they could participate in the action during their tour. Since the end of the sailing season, I have worked at the company's shipyard.
I started sailing at a young age when I learned the basics from my father. Since then, after many years of sailing, I now have these certificates:
RYA Commercial Endorsement;
Day Skipper (Sail) RYA Certificate;
Day Skipper Theory Certificate (RYA/MCA);
STCW Certificate of Proficiency in Personal Survival Techniques;
RYA/MCA Small Craft Basic Sea Survival Course;
PPR Certificate (RYA) /Professional Practices and Responsibilities/;
STCW Elementary First Aid (A-VI/1-3);
VHF/SRC Certificate (RYA);
Diesel Engine (RYA) certificate;
Competent Crew (RYA) Certificate.
I have an EU passport and Settled Status in the UK.
My strengths aboard are (as my instructors wrote about me in their Instructor Debrief documents):
Riccardo R.: "Great helmsman; Wind awareness/Points of sail; Very keen sailor".
Tom L.: "Points of sail; Helming; Wind awareness; Knot/Ropework".
Will H.: "Good sailor; Helming good; Points of sail; Very aware of wind & surroundings; Good at keeping watch; Dingy work very good".
My hobbies are sailing, kayaking, travelling, reading, skiing, horseback riding, and tennis.
I look forward to meeting some new people!
