Day Skipper looking to gain experience in sailing, add some miles and meet new people.
Hi,
Completed my RYA Day Skipper Theory & Practical, plus VHF last year.
Looking for sailing opportunities where I can practice and improve my new skills, and add to them by getting some time on the water.
I am based in Suffolk, UK so ideally opportunities around the East Anglian Coast preferred - that being said I am will to travel to join a boat around the UK or Europe for an interesting journey.
I am recently retired, fit (young) 64 year old with a sense of adventure, go to the gym 3 times a week and cycle regularly.
To celebrate my retirement last year I cycled from Lands End to John o'Groats - which was a long term ambition
For last year my target was(is) to learn to sail and get out on the water - with a view to getting a crew place for an Atlantic crossing towards the end of 2024 (note - if you have that in your plans and would like a couple of useful crew members - my wife has completed Competent Crew is an excellent (trained) cook and is keen to join the party for the Atlantic crossing - please let me know).
I consider myself to be easy going and sociable with a decent sense of humour.
Look forward to hearing from/meeting/sailing with some of you in the future.
Good crew
Leslie, is a very welcome member of the crew onboard. He can get on with any age group and participate in all the duties concerned in sailing the boat. He also helped me when the heads stopped flushing, he and another crew member did, thank you. I also had charging issues with the boat in Maderia, which lost us a few days, but he took it in his stride as one of those things that happened. He did the leg from Lagos, Portugal until Maderia and the weather forecast was certainly double than that predicted. It was his 1st time out in those seas (Atlantic), and although it took him a little more time to refresh his skills, he did succeed and hopefully learnt alot. You are welcome back anytime and I hope you have success, fairwinds with you on your future journeys.
