Ahoy! I’m David – Your Next Crew Member! ?
Hi, I'm a sailor from Dallas, TX, working on building miles and offshore sailing experience.
A Bit About Me:
I am an Army Veteran who has worked in marketing for the past 15 years. In 2025, I left my corporate career to start my own photography company and begin building the miles and experience I need for a captain's license and eventually, RYA Yachtmaster certifications.
My Background:
• Certifications: I hold ASA 101 and 103 certifications.
• Experience: I have been sailing for three years. I own a Catalina 25 that I sail and maintain. I also crew regularly for local club events. I just finished my first delivery on a 51' Nautor Swan on a 1,900-mile voyage from Norfolk, VA to Galveston, TX. The crew hand-steered the entire voyage, taking shifts each day. We encountered 55+ winds and 20+ft seas around Cape Hatteras and sailed through a snowstorm off the coast of North Carolina, fighting through subfreezing temperatures and 60+ mph winds! The last leg across the Gulf of Mexico was pretty timid, with mostly light winds, flying the asymmetrical spinnaker for most of the passage.
• In 2023, I crewed on a 4-day, 454-mile offshore passage on a Lagoon 450 from Nassau, Bahamas to Bradenton, FL, that included both day and night watches.
• Skills: I have hands-on experience rebuilding engines (both forced and naturally aspirated) and I’m learning more each day about working with diesel engines. I also have some experience in general maintenance and boat upkeep, electrical wiring, soldering, and plumbing.
• Interests: Photography, travelling, reading, music, karaoke, skydiving, and surfing.
