Izmir to Athens, april 2025
Gotta be back in NL, April 25/26. Currently in Isparta, ready to depart from Izmir or Antalya on the 15th. I know its just like a week but i'd love to get some more sailing in, to anyplace where i can the take a bus home :) mainland Greece would be great!
I spent the last three winters in Cape Verdes, the first two sailing around and the third in shipyard and then vacation, hiking around. I am a traditional sailor, on tall ships and flatbottoms (NL). I am used to living together in a small space. I speak English, Dutch and conversational German, and with hands and feet I have found my way in French, too.
Hi - I'm looking for sea miles & to expand my horizon!! I've been to the nautical college in Enkhuizen NL (first year). Got my Rating Deck . Spent some years chartering traditional vessels. Right now I'm just looking for experience and new friends!! I want to see the world! Also, this would be the first winter in three years that I'm in NL and honestly it's cold. Get me out of here!
I started sailing as a kid, my father taught me and i've in turn taught kids keelboat sailing :)
I've been a professional sailor for over two years from Harlingen (2018-2019 + covid years) We sailed with family groups or schools, or any organisation that booked the ship (up to 26 guests, on board for about a week) The only professionals were me and the skipper- the responsibility forced me to learn a lot in a short time! I got my skipper license this last summer (2024) and finished the season as a deckhand.
I've been employed as a deckhand on a seagoing traditional sailing vessel for a year and a half, getting some Tall Ship experience from the Cape Verdes to the Nort German coast! Then i spent 6 months on a reverted sailing cutter, rigged as a staysail schooner, and spent last season back with the flatbottoms, at home. I want to expand my horizon and learn something new, never been on a yacht really for longer than a day!
I've seen clear skies & deadly quiet seas, waves 9m, rain & hailstorms and everything in between. Biskay last year was rougher than expected-
I'm most comfortable with traditional vessels but will definitely be able to pick things up quickly!
My most recent experience on a 11m yacht (first time on a yacht woooo) was very enjoyable, i am happy to say i didnt get awfully seasick even in 35kts-1,5m!
Julia
Mate You Wish You Always Had!
Sailing with Julia was an absolute pleasure! She adapts to a new rig faster than you can say ‘trim the sails’ and has a great overall understanding of sailing—no need to explain things twice. Whether it’s helming solo at sea or helping out with maintenance, cooking, and cleaning, she’s always willing to jump in. Adventurous, capable, and great company on board—I’d sail with her again in a heartbeat!
