Looking for a Novice Crew, Voluntary work or Mile building
Hi, my name is Maxime and I'm a 28 years old frenchman, currently living in Portugal.
Always passionate by traveling and discovering the world, my road took me to Australia, south-east Asia and many countries in Europe. Ocean lover (I do bodyboard/sea kayak) and adventure seeker (haven't lived more than a year at the same place since my 18). I have always dreamt since kid of owning a little sail boat and keep on discovering the world, the freest and cleanest way possible. I've always been thrilled every time I had the chance to set foot on a boat (I am not seasick).
Though, years have been passing and this dream will stay in my head unless I finally take a step forward to achieve it, and what a beautiful first step it'd be to learn with an experienced skipper, being part of a crew, creating life lasting friendships and unforgettable memories . From my perspective a way richer way to learn how to sail than spending a week on a school boat.
Team player and used to live in community (summer camp animator, nature camp educator, ski instructor or manager are my main professional experiences), I am an eternal optimist, not afraid of hard work or working under pressure, with short sleeping times to recharge the batteries.
Through my travels, from french traditional receipts, my love for cooking has been enriched with many new influences from around the world (with a special love for Asian and Mediterranean food) and I'd be more than happy to share this passion with the rest of the crew onboard.
A second passion that has benefited from traveling, even being a good source of income more times than I can count, is music. Guitarist/singer for more than ten years, I took it many time to the street for busking sessions and developed a set based on the use of a looper pedal and different effects to create rich and diverse atmospheres. This is of course something I would gladly share onboard, my guitar being the first thing I pack every time I travel.
To be honest I have no previous experience in sailing (but from an initiation to optimist boats, as a kid) but curious and quick learner, I'd definitely commit myself fully to any task you'd required me to do and the knowledge coming with it. Always friendly and easygoing, I would, I think integrate myself easily to any crew, always trying to be useful.
My main objective here being learning and building a mileage, I would be up to any duration or adventure (crossing the Atlantic is something I dream to do.) and I am available now.
Hoping to exchange with you soon,
Fair winds,
Maxime.
