EXPERIENCED CREW AVAILABLE FROM MARTINIQUE/DOMINICA/GUADELOUPE DIRECTION SOUTHAMERICA
Hi,
At one glance:
- I just crossed the Atlantic for the second time on a DIY Catamaran and I'm fully enjoying the Caribbean. After some island hopping, it's time to leave the boat, as I would like to head to Southamerica. I'm very flexible, there is no rush and I prefer the right boat and crew rather than the right time and destination.
- Triple vaccinated
- +7000 nm sailing experience (incl. 2 Atlantic crossings)
- German, English, Spanish, French
- Night watches / mooring / anchoring / basic maneuvers / sail trimming / basic repairs / security of yacht / steering / navigation / cooking / cleaning / provisioning
- idea of expense: contribution
- graduated economist (13 years working experience in banking & accounting)
More detailled:
My name is Mauro, I'm 30 years old and coming from Switzerland.
After crossing the Atlantic from Lanzarote via Cape Verde to Barbados with a Bavaria C57 in the winter of 2019/2020 and after enjoying the Caribbeans, I got stuck in St. Lucia due to Covid-19. My dream was to sail further to Southamerica, but unfortunately I was forced to go back to Switzerland. Now time has come to try my luck again.
I crewed on four different boats (Jeanneau Espace 1000 36ft., Beneteau Sense 50, Bavaria C57, DIY Catamaran 46ft.) and enjoyed sailing so much, without any signs of seasickness. I did night-watches, navigation, steering, mooring, sail-hoisting, sail-trimming, maneuvers, operating autopilot, provisioning, cooking, cleaning, learned sailing-knots and a lot more about sailing. I got a taste of sailing and decided to continue my circumnavigation by sailingboat and to learn much more about sailing and seamanship.
Actually I'm pretty flexible with my plans without any time pressure and I prefer the right ride rather than the right date or destination. I'm based in Guadeloupe at the moment, willing to come to your boat.
My dream is to circumnavigate the world with at least emissions as possible. I'm aware that sailing is not a zero-pollution way to go, but compared with other transportation and combined with the dependence of nature I feel really good.
I'm willing to give a hand where I can (cooking, cleaning, provisioning, watches/steering/navigation).
I speak German (native language), English, Spanish & French.
About me:
After graduating, I worked as an accountant to save money for my dream. At the end of 2019 the time came, I quit my job, my flat to go on the biggest adventure of my life. I managed to get from Bern, Switzerland, to the Caribbeans without taking a plane, where I was forced to fly back due to Covid-19. Now, approx. 1 year after getting back to Europe and after travelling around with my van, volunteering in Greece, earning some money and getting vaccinated, I'm ready to try again to reach South America by boat.
I am an sporty, open-minded, uncomplicated, humble, tidy & clean guy who loves the sea (surfing, diving PADI open water etc.). Moreover, I love to be in nature such as hiking, camping, biking... Last but not least, I also really enjoy just to read a good book.
Furthermore, for sure I'm willing to contribute for the journey.
I'm looking forward to hearing from you.
Mauro
