Electronics technician with Yachtmaster offshore license(CE) looking for a position as Skipper/First Mate/Engineer!!!!

Yachtmaster offshore (CE) and former electrical engineer from Austria looking for exciting and challenging sailing opportunities in yachting.

I worked mainly as a first mate, always close to the owner/captain.
I am looking for a captain or First Mate/Engineer position.

A passionate sailor for six years, reliable, strong work ethic but easygoing.

Quality and reliability-minded through year-long experience in the quality department as a product reliability engineer in a semiconductor manufacturer.

In my first job, I worked as an electronics technician and tested and adjusted PCBs and Modules for big Inverters, Rectifiers, Frequency converters, and UPS facilities.

After that, I changed to the semiconductor industry and worked as a product reliability engineer in the quality department for 7 years.

Ran a farm with animals, pastures, and machines in the Austrian mountains for 6 years.
Therefore, I have a very hands-on, and flexible work mentality. Can Manage all kinds of repair work and keep things running and well-maintained.

Message me if you plan an interesting, demanding, or challenging sailing trip. I'm open to everything and always interested in new experiences with nice people.

Simon was our hero!

5

Simon, aka “Nomis”, was my awesome crew mate on our trans-Atlantic crossing in May, 2019… also during a six day passage from Tortola, BVI to St George’s, Bermuda. His command of the English language is remarkable and natural. Simon was always cheerful, accommodating, eager to help & take the initiative, talented mechanically (ie.: When our fore peak was filling up with sea water, he laboriously sealed it with a caulking gun while under way.), skilled on the finer points of sailing, awesome in the galley (often baked hot fresh bread from scratch and once even prepared some delicious Austrian pancakes rolled up with flavorful raspberry jam. You should have seen him flip those pancakes high into the air, out and back into the sizzling frying pan all while the boat was healed over!) Most valuable was the fact he is a journeyman electrician. When our Simrad auto pilot got drenched by a rouge wave that filled the cockpit, the auto pilot stopped working. Earlier, our wind vane’s rudder fell off so… we were without any more options other than hand steering. We still had about four more days of sailing before making landfall. As an electrician, Simon went to work to solve the problem. After several attempts taking the auto pilot apart, drying it out, checking the connections and putting it back together… it worked again, thank God! After ~9 hours of hand steering, we were getting worried about the fatigue we would experience during the balance of our voyage. Simon was our hero!
