Tomkai ~ Deckhand, bosun or technician position
I’ve been sailing for the best part of my life and the last 6 years have been aboard mostly Tall ships my roles being coxswain, deckhand, bosun and mate. I have been sailing mostly in the United Kingdom and Europe but more recently Australia and the Caribbean. I am a very practical person with a wide number of general skills I have no problem tackling any task given to me whether it’s fitting a brand-new main engine, helming a 144ft square rigger, watch leading in the Tall ships race or cooking a 3-course meal. I have a very outgoing bubbly personality with strong character, great with guests and families in a hospitality situation.
My most recent position has been with Sunsail, I started off the season as a base technician/briefer and then was first choice to be a flotilla technician for the rest of my season here. During my season so far, I have undertaken routine maintenance and turnaround tasks to keep the yachts ready for charter and furthermore on flotilla been active in checking the yachts are satisfactory for the guests on charter throughout the week, assisting them from a tender during docking and mooring, organising and running activities alongside the host to give them the best experience possible.
I take great pride in every vessel I work on and the lifelong friendships and memories I make on them and plan one day to skipper my own hopefully I can make yours part of my journey too.
