Competent crew/ dayskipper tidal looking for blue miles and sailing fun!
Ahoy - I am looking for a position as crew member (deckhand/ watch leader) to build up my mileage and enjoy sailing. Finding friendship and meeting new people would be great! In this post career phase of life (I was a graphics editor at a daily newspaper up to 2015) I owe it to myself to find out what my old dream - a sailor's life - is all about.
I've been on a few boats and yachts and sailed some blue water since 2018. Spain, Portugal, The English Channel, Northsea, Dutch inland waters. I crossed the Atlantic. I had a 30ft sailboat for a while and sailed it on my own. See 'Maritime Experience for more'.
I'm 66 years old now, but strong, healthy and have good stamina. I did some serious bike racing for decades, love to play tennis and go hiking. I'm handy, very DIY, proactive and eager to learn. I love a good joke, try to be open, honest and respectful. I'm also a sensitive guy, trying to make others happy. Besides Dutch and English I speak French, German and some Spanish. I have a girlfriend who's not into sailing, but she loves me for doing what I do. My son is 32 and will be a surgeon soon and I will be a grandparent in April23. I used to get seasick, but found pills that work very well for me. I know a lot about sailing - but there's always more to learn. In December 2022 I crossed the Atlantic, making one of my dreams come true.

In 2023 I'd like to do some coastal and inland sailing with friends and who knows, buy a boat, again.
