Mariner
I am currently working on a 78ft Southern Wind as first mate. We are shipping the vessel to Spain in the beginning of April and after a brief time of getting the boat ready for sailing again I will have around a month of availability. I believe it will be mid May through all of June. In July I will be headed to Alaska again to work on the Kenai River as a Guide. My contract is until the end of Sept.
Previously I worked in sunny Key Largo off and on since 2018 as a dockmaster/ instructor at an ASA sailing school/ cottage resort. When the winds were in my favor I would like to sail on my day off and explore the Keys. A lot of my time before teaching was spent as a dock master. I would also keep the boats in a working condition (replacing standing and running rigging, replacing sails) and do regular maintenance on the motors (Tahatsu 4 stroke).
Before Key Largo I was working in ice cold and dismal Michigan working in warehouses on the hard. During the fall season I worked shrink wrapping. I spent the winter months wheeling, waxing, and doing lite fiberglass work.
I fell in love with sailing when I lived in St. Thomas USVI on a 60 ft trimaran. I worked 2 ten day charters as chef. After the term charters I worked and lived on the boat for 5 months. The vessel survived through the 2 category 5 hurricanes Irma and Maria so it needed quite a bit of work done. We ended up sailing her from St Thomas through the Bahamas all the way to West Palm Beach.
In 2017 I worked in Michigan around Lake St. Clair washing the boats in the summer and wheeling and waxing in the fall and winter.
