You need this skipper on your boat!

I can not recommend Louis highly enough. I crewed on a 1,870nm, 23 day delivery with him in March/April 2023 from La Gomera, Canaries to Gosport, England. It was not a straightforward trip at that time of the year nor with the old and tired Oyster 435 that we were on. He is one of, if not the, very best skippers I’ve sailed with. He cared for and managed the boat as though it was his own, his attention to detail was impeccable. He is a very safe level headed and skilled skipper, who focussed carefully on weather routing and the most suitable course. His parking and close quarters manoeuvres are second to non, he displayed an enviable confidence and ability. We very calmly came into Gosport in the dark at slack tide, effectively navigating the maze of lights and ferries without hesitation or drama. The level of care, good regard, respect and encouragement that he showed his crew made for a very enjoyable, smooth and cohesive trip. He’s also a lot of fun, we laughed a lot. I was impressed by how well he held and performed his role as ships master despite his relatively young age, always with a clear head on his shoulders. When things broke on the old boat and when conditions were tough, he never lost his cool and nor his ability to quickly intelligently and effectively decide on the necessary remedy or actions to be taken, and clearly communicate the way forward. He was always available to lead when called upon. He is also a really very lovely kind considerate and interesting person to spend time with in close quarters for an extended period. I unhesitatingly recommend him as a rare, valuable and competent skipper to accompany an owner or to go the distance and some, to complete a delivery. It was an absolute pleasure to be his first mate and have each other’s backs.
