Available to crew: Greece to the Atlantic from April to August 2025, keen for adventure with a young at heart skipper
Dear boat owners, I am available to explore the Mediterranean coast as crew member this spring 2024, through to the end of summer 2024. I would love to cruise with a skilful, relaxed and positive skipper, maybe one or two more crew (but not a party boat), finding quiet, isolated locations, and having new adventures in the water and ashore in seaside villages and towns.
In my 58 years I have seen the world on foot, I am keen to see it from the perspective of a sea-bird, going where the winds take us, responding to whatever nature offers with a positive and skilful skipper as guide.
Technically, I am mile building, planning to cross the Pacific (returning to Australia) in 2026. The only thing I request is 2-3 weeks off the boat in May (I plan to walk the Camino Santiago with a Kiwi friend). Otherwise I hope to stay with one boat all summer if possible. I like to get to know people and places, and I love learning how things work, so getting to know a boat and her owner would be super for me.
The perfect trip would be to sail West, from Greece or Turkey, to the Atlantic coast of France. However I am open to any destinations and adventures, cruising around Greece and Turkey in search of adventure and hidden secrets, following in the footsteps of ancient mariners would be amazing.
I've crewed in the Caribbean, for an American couple I met in Venezuela. I took care of their boat on the hard, when they returned we anti-fouled, made repairs and set sail for 3 weeks. I also crewed around the Isle of White, competed in Cowes Week, and crossed the English Channel to Honfleur and back. I am a good cook (quick and nutritous meals), neat and organised, good at following orders, bright and alert, and able to think for myself if given rope. I learn fast, having once been a lawyer in Australia, Singapore and the UK. No one needs a lawyer on board, so I assure you that was 15 years ago - I have not looked back at the corporate world with more than a glance since :)
I currently live in a camper in Australia. Exploring the East coast, I work online and keep fit and flexible by hiking, climbing and ocean swimming. I am 57, been meditating and doing yoga for 15 years, and love things of beauty: right now I am rebuilding the alternator on my 30-year old imported 4WD van while in Tasmania. I have plenty of energy that I channel into keeping busy, I volunteer and travel most of the year, when not spending time with my adult kids and ex-wife in Australia (my base country).
I'd love to work with a younger captain and crew, if possible, but I appreciate the wisdom and company of old souls too.
Fair winds, and blue skies x
