Captain/Skipper/1st Mate/OOW
I am Joseph, 42 years old, from Malta. I am a commercially endorsed Maltese Master on Yachts 200GT / Officer Of Watch 500GT. For the past 3 years I have been a freelance captain on various yachts locally and also worked as crew offshore on other yachts. I also do some dayworks here in Malta in the low season. However I do not wish to remain locally and I would like to expand my horizons and knowledge by working offshore. I will be doing the RYA Yachtmaster Offshore (motor & sail) commercial endorsements in February to be internationally recognised. This gives me the opportunity to work on yachts under different flag states.
My background is engineering and after many years working in the office/onsite I decided to change my path to the yachting industry. Growing up on an island around sea and boats while having an engineering background, I feel confident in my abilities and competent to work on a good yacht. I am an owner of an 11 metre sailing yacht and I try to do everything myself to minimise the maintenance costs. I am a passionate, logical, highly organised, technical and hands-on individual with a very good eye for detail and good working ethics. I am independent, easy going and very friendly, and I see myself as a hard worker who can deliver.
