Looking for a Deckhand and/or deck position
Hi, I'm Flynn, I am an 18 years old British Male with a UK passport, who is currently seeking any opportunity as a deckhand. I am available anytime and will travel at short notice to any country! Currently, I am looking to get as much experience working as the role as possible and am looking to build up my experience for higher jobs in the industry!
I am hard-working, organised, reliable, trustworthy and keen to start my career in the yachting industry. I enjoy the outside, especially when being pushed to my limits mentally and physically. I am comfortable in high pressure situations, approaching them with a calm manor, whilst also supporting my peers and superiors. As a naturally creative and artistic individual, I have found that these attributes regularly transfer over when completing presented tasks. I believe my art gives me an eye for detail and a focus on delivering work of the highest quality. I have spent a large portion of my life living abroad in multicultural environments. I have learnt to be adaptable having had to move schools due to my parent’s occupation. This has taught me to integrate quickly and build strong relationships with those around me over short lengths of time. As well as adaptable I also believe to be IT literate, possessing the ability of being comfortable around modern technologies. When presented with new equipment or electronics, as an inquisitive individual and quick learner, I always aim to take advantage of both attributes, familiarising myself as quick as possible!
My interest in working at sea began when I completed my RYA youth sailing qualifications. I have been particularly inspired by my cousin’s impressive journey as a deckhand progressing to third officer. From listening to his positive experiences and my interest in becoming a deckhand, I completed the necessary maritime qualifications as soon as my age permitted. Having decided to take a gap year before university, I believe that this is the perfect time to gain some experience under my belt, for a potential future career in the maritime industry.
