Looking for a Voluntary work or Competent Crew position
Hello! I am a Kiwi currently based in Europe and I am hoping to gain more experience as crew, and hope to sail some longer passages this summer season.
I am a qualified Emergency Medical Technician in New Zealand and i have been taking some time off after graduating to travel, volunteer and live!
I have been based in Europe since last year, living in Portugal and now in Sicily for Volunteer work. During this time i have been falling deeply in love with the ocean, i love to surf and spend time in the water. In all its chaos it makes me feel surprisingly calm. I am easygoing and have good skills to help on board, including my medical background, i also have good boat handling knowledge from working on a ship and learning to drive and manoeuvre RHIBS. I also have my RYA competent crew and have sailed for many summers now with my local race crew.
Some other positives:
- I don't snore (although i wouldn't really know, would i)
- Have great taste in music (at least i think so)
- Im a great cook, even on boats (In my previous job i worked as a cook on a Sea Shepherd vessel cooking for 25 crew)
- Have a hilarious accent ( I'm told)
- can splice a line (!!) and whip the common AND French way
- Have no dietary requirements or allergies (this is a positive, trust me)
My dream is to be competent enough to have my own sailboat one day and repay the favours of others who have given me opportunities to learn and sail.
