Stew/Deck - Temporary / Seasonal - $200-300/day - United States

I am looking to hire one person as part-time crew for the season in a dual role of deckand and steward. I need someone to help me transport the boat around New England to service appointments and to embark charter guests as well my family when I'm using the boat for recreation. Your availability doesn't have to exactly match the posted dates but I will need you by the time of the Newport Charter Show in late June. If you are a student I can work with your term dates. Currently planned and anticipated voyages will go from Boston to Newport, Cape Cod and the islands, Maine, and New York City, returning to Boston. Charters will be booked through a charter management agency for up to four guests, typically offering weeklong sailing cruises in New England waters. I prefer candidates who are local to the Boston area, but anyone living within commuting distance of Boston (about 100 miles or 2-3 hours) is welcome to apply. I cannot provide seaonal living accommodations but I do pay for travel expenses and meals when you're working. This is advertised as a part-time position because I do not provide full-time accommodation and you will not work a regular schedule, however I am willing to negotiate a guaranteed number of working days for you. As an owner-operator I will not accept tips from charter guests and you will be entitled to any tips given.

  • Boat descriptionThe boat is a highly customized version of Ted Hood's Little Harbor 58 design--lengthened and given an extra-shallow shoal draft and shortened mast, with added tankage for fresh water and fuel. The Little Harbor is the ultimate refinement of Hood's yacht design philosophy, iterated over three decades through yachts that claimed the America's Cup and many ocean racing trophies. Hood defied the trend toward ever- lighter-displacement yachts built ever more cheaply and engineered to the margins, offering, in his words, "an alternative that emphasizes comfort and safety without giving up respectable performance characteristics." Indeed, the yacht is exceptionally sea-kindly, solid, and powerful--qualities that are all the better to appreciate while enjoying her gracious ammenities. Highly reccomend sailing with Marty on Tyche.

5

Both my wife and I had the pleasure of sailing with Marty on Tyche in Oct/Nov of 2023. As a professional delivery captain I cant tell you how refreshing it is to find an owner that is fully dedicated not only to the safety of the boat and crew, but also committed to ensuring that everyone involved has a positive experience. Marty is a prudent captain who takes pride in keeping his vessel in top condition which should inspire confidence in anyone considering making a passage with him. He is also an understanding and caring human which makes him a pleasure to be with on the water as well as on land. We both hope to sail with you again soon!
