Capt. & Stew couple - Temporary / Seasonal - Min exp 4 years - PLN/EUR - Croatia
Hi, we are looking for 2 very experienced sailors (preferably a couple or friends comfortable with sharing one bed/cabin) for the positions of captain/skipper and stew/hostess for our new sailing monohull yacht Hanse 460 (2024) - Shadow Of The Wind, based in Marina Kastela, Croatia (near Split) during off-season sailing trips. The position covers two periods: April and mid-October to mid-November.
Shadow Of The Wind is a charter yacht that is chartered during the sailing season (around May till October). We’re looking for someone to lead mile-building/cruising trips for guests in off-season, when the sailing conditions are more challenging.
Key responsibilities:
- safely navigating and operating the Hanse 460 during off-season sailing trips with guests
- teaching the interested guests the basics of sailing and navigation
- responsibility for the overall maintenance of the yacht - including the cleaning of common areas
- preparation of meals during the trips including breakfast, lunch, dinner
- ensuring a high level of safety and comfort for all onboard
- trip planning, including marina/buoy reservation and route planning
- provisioning
Requirements:
- proven sailing experience with a track record of managing yachts of similar size
- RYA Yachtmaster Offshore or equivalent
- Radiooperator licence
- STCW Basic training
- Maritime Medical Certificate
- experience in offshore sailing and strong knowledge of maritime regulations
- ability to work autonomously and handle all aspects of yacht operation, including engine and rig maintenance, navigation, and docking
- culinary skills are a plus, as meal preparation will be part of the duties
- flexibility and adaptability to varying conditions and schedules
- teamwork, reliability, and a positive attitude are essential
- in-depth knowledge of navigating Croatian waters, including familiarity with local marinas, anchorages, and nice go to spots/restaurants
- ability to handle harbour bookings and marina reservations in Croatia, ensuring smooth sailing and docking during the trips
- familiarity with Croatian maritime regulations and local weather patterns to ensure safe and efficient navigation
- language: English; knowledge of Polish would be a big plus (majority of the guests are going to be Polish)
