Provident 1924 Brixham Trawler is a 100 year old traditional sailing ship.
We are looking for a cook to join our crew of four (Skipper, first mate, deckhand and cook). We run 5-10 day sailing adventure holidays from the west coast of Scotland with up to 8 guests. Provident is a 20m sailing ship. The cook must be team player and work well with the guests. The galley is small and in the saloon. The cook must prepare three meals a day and afternoon tea. All meals are cooked from scratch with fresh ingredients and we have a budget that reflects this. 50% of all meals must be vegetarian.
This job is for you if:
You love sailing and traditional boats.
Have experience of cooking on boats and/or catering generally for 12 or more people.
You are able to cope with long sea passages of 5 days or more without stopping.
You are organised and think ahead. You will be responsible for ordering and storing all food for each trip.
You have high food hygiene standards - ensuring the galley is always clean and tidy.
You find it easy to get on with people.
You will get a lot of support from other crew members in both cooking and galley support. We will aim to ensure you have at least one day of paid rest during each voyage and one day off (unpaid) between charters.
