Crew Wanted for after work sailing in Malta By: Voyager5 Replies: 1 Views: 28

Voyager5 Posted: 2017-07-23 23:36
Hey guys, if anyone is interested in sailing 2-3 hours after work or in the weekends, in Malta/EU, drop me a line or reply to this forum.

I have a small 28ft sailboat, the idea is to just sail out in front of Valletta and chill out there, sail back and forth a few times, have a beer or a glass of nice white wine.

Just for fun, no racing, just relaxed sailing, a minimal sailing experience is required, no expenses, is all paid by me.

Note: this is not a paid crew position, I am just looking for fellow enthusiasts sailors in Malta that want to sail out after work or in the weekends.

Need crew - two day trip eastern Long Island to New York City By: byterbit Replies: 1 Views: 14

Moving a 27 foot sailboat to NYC from eastern Long Island.
This will be down the length of Long Island Sound. We will overnight on anchor or at a marina somewhere between Mattituck and Port Jefferson and then, I hope, make New York City the next day - so you'll have the pleasure of going through Hell Gate and down the East River under the 59th Street Bridge and the UN. A great trip. Boat has a tiller - so be ready to lend a hand taking turns conning her for some hours. No pay, but we'll feed you and be happy teaching what we know of sailing and navigation.
Transatlantic, eastbount, December/January - someone sailing and looking for crew? By: SaraMar Replies: 1 Views: 28

Hola hola!
I am a 27-year-old Italian backpacker, currently volunteering in Colombia as a teacher - studied Performing Arts, many passions but no vocation, so learning on the way and reinventing myself a lot throughout the years, now looking forward to the next steps, back in Europe, once done. Nature and sea lover. My father worked on a banana cargo, my family had a travel agency, we possibly have some kind of nomadic free spirit seed in our blood :)

I am looking for a lift from December 2017/January 2018. I'm hard worker and an eager fast learner, I can definitely help with cleaning, laundry and cooking duties (peeling potatoes and carrots for weeks if needed lol - always been dreaming of volunteering for a transatlantic trip!), and indeed, I would love to learn some on sailing and to be able to help in any useful way!
Any schedule, route and European destination to drop me off could possibly work, please get in touch if you are going to reach my dear old continent and you are interested in getting some help. Also, if you have any advise about cargo companies which may cover the route, or general suggestions to share. Thank you! :)

Hoping to hear from you soon!

Recently I acquired a 44ft aluminium Koopmans, a sturdy boat. This summer I would like to cruise along the northern French coast to south Bretagne, to get to known the ship better. For this trip I'm looking for extra deckhands, competent sailors that can join me one or two weeks.
The sailing plan is: start 1 July at Amsterdam, transfer ports are Honfleur (8 july), Morlaix (15 july), arriving at Vannes 22 july. Return trip starts in Morlaix 12 august, Honfleur 19 august, arriving in Amsterdam 24-26 august.
Principally all in daytrips, anchoring as much as possible, supplying at harbours, avoiding marina's.
Level competent crew, costs shared basis. Knowledge of French and/or the coasts of Normandy and Brittany is a pré.

Hello,

Finishing grad school in July, my next step is to get to the States to start a project in environmental communication. But to get there, plane isn't an option.
Traveller, scuba diver, and adventurer, I like the time spent going from one place to another. For me it is a necessary time to get ideas clear, prepare for what is coming next, discover new people and new experiences, and get out of your comfort zone.
So if you are crossing the Atlantic, looking for a crew delivery, or some kind of person onboard to help with the trip, count on me. I am waterproof, have sailing experiences in the Med, and eager to some more !
Hope to hear from you soon to organise the trip from the 14th of July to the 30th of August.

Ciao,

Hi All
I am currently 3 years into a solo motorcycle journey where I am attempting to ride my motorcycle to all 7 continents. I have done 6 so far having successfully got my bike on a sailboat to Antarctica back in 2015 and hitched a ride back on a Russian Ice Breaker. I have been travelling up through the Americas since then and was held back for months after injury. I am now in BC and waiting out the winter before I continue. My budget is blown and I still have to get to Africa and cross is from South to North to finish. I am trying to find a way to get me and a small motorbike to South Africa or anywhere on the Coast. This is a long shot but please spread the word and who knows. Stranger things have happened. I can offer my services on board the ship in anyway I can be of help and can also offer publicity if you are a business looking for an opportunity. Thanks in advance.

I have a confirmed berth to and from Tasmania but not for the event itself yet! If you have an entry and have room for 1 more crew member please consider me. I get on with people well, like to work as part of a team and make myself useful. I am tolerant, patient and respectful of others needs and property. I do not have a lot of sailing experience yet but am keen to learn. I have an RYA comp crew certificate.

If you have room for me, for even part of this cruise, please message me.

Sailing For A Cause By: MyForthView Replies: 1 Views: 40

Sailing For A Cause = SFAC has been setup as a Facebook community to raise funds for the disabled to take an active part in coastal/offshore sailing.

www.facebook.com/groups/149261998874058

My name is Martin Parr. Professionally - A kind of make it happen person! A lifelong appetite for all things nautical, ocean sailing, navigation and meteorology.

Boating has been my life and the ability to assist others is essential.

With there being many disability sailing organisations, the gist of this mission is clear, it is to enhance what is already available with fresh impetus and funds for offshore sailing and passage making for the disabled and less able-bodied, which we as sailors take for granted.

The mission is in two parts:-

Firstly, to purchase of a 30-40ft yacht, to be rigged for single handed sailing, and to cover the costs for a UK circumnavigation. The possibility also exists for someone to donate a suitably rigged yacht.

Secondly, to use this yacht to solo circumnavigate the UK to raise funds by, sponsorship, to obtain six yachts for the disabled sailor to use in offshore and passage making. Something we do in the course of our daily lives and take for granted.

World sporting events, including the Paralympics, have shown what achievements the disabled can reach. Water sports for the disabled are not new, and different countries approach it in fundamentally different ways. Dingy sailing and tall ships for the disabled have been going for many decades. Offshore and coastal sailing is limited and very much piecemeal arrangements. SFAC has been designed to spread the word.

As an island nation, the UK or Rule Britannia did rule the waves and it was the able bodied that were at the forefront to protect the British Empire. Today, Paralympians, especially the disabled sailors across the globe, have come into their own. Let’s give more disabled persons the opportunity that we able bodied open water sailors have, by supporting this initiative and begin by liking us virtually and then how we can help in real terms.

As progression is made in turning this project into a reality, frequent updates will be made publicly. The hunt is now on to find a suitable 30-40ft yacht. The purchase will depend on the level of crowdfunding initially received. The survey, insurance, any changes necessary to rig/rigging/sails, electronics, electrics, the fabric of the vessel itself, along with full paper charts, pilot books, sailing directions, etc will all be added into the budget. Victualing, diesel, gas, marina/mooring fees may also be donated.

Ideally the passage will begin and run from 1 May to 30 September as coastal hops, using marinas, anchorages, moorings as necessary and night passages only as and when necessary. Passage planning has already started and the passage itself will be in a clockwise direction.

May 2017 is a strong and feasible option for starting the passage, subject to funding starting to flow, but all options are flexible.

Thank you in advance for any questions or offers of assistance, other than funding. Yes, I have studied all the national and international organisations. The actual project has been launched month, but much has already been undertaken behind the scenes.

My aim is not to provide funds for one charity to the exclusion of another. It is to raise awareness in parallel with fund raising and then with discussion with others. Raising funds underpins the way I go forward and inturn depends on the amount of funds raised. It is only as one has got older and time to reflect, that it becomes clearer where one's energy should be placed. For me this project will provide much needed funds for suitable yachts for the less fortunate disabled who cannot afford to sail. To see a new charity created for this will mean very much to me. If there is a legacy that I can leave, it has to be this one.

The circumnavigation of the UK will be solo and I am preparing my normal passage plan the same way as I would for other passages. To gain maximum exposure for the cause, I have to visit as many locations as possible and why I feel it prudent to utilise the full months between May to September, in a clockwise direction, starting from and finishing on the River Forth.

I am thankful to be able to rely on social media and word of mouth to start this ball rolling. I appreciate in advance any interest that may be shown. If you see that there is some way, however small, you can interact with this project it would be most welcomed.

Thank you

Martin Parr

The hot weather is coming, an ideal time to sail the West and South Coast before the season ends.

Anyone fancy a yacht delivery from North Wales to the South of England? It's a 31 foot, ocean going fast racer, six berth so plenty of room.

We'll be back home by Sunday. It'll mean Thursday and Friday off work/out of the office.

Expenses will be paid so no need to worry about contributions. If you chartered similar it would cost you hundreds.

Sun tan lotion will be required.

Do you fancy a sail down the west coast of Scotland, past the Isle of Man, down past Wales and around Lands End, ending up in Gosport?

I'll be stopping off along the way to victual the yacht which is a 31ft 1982 Jeanneau. We may need to add more fuel depending on the weather.

Duties will include sharing the night watch and sailing during the day. Maybe making the odd cuppa too.

I have a three week window in September, the earlier the better but not before Monday the 5th.

Some experience is necessary for this 590 mile journey (or so). It can be a mile builder towards your Yachtmaster qualification.

Let me know.

Hi I'm Magalina Masso aka Maggzz

I have always wanted to travel and just go live on a boat.

The closest I've been on a boat is the Sterling Casino for 2 hours and that really doesn't count because I was indoors the whole time.

I love to travel and I love to have a good time. (not sexual)

I have no sea miles on the water but I am a quick learner and would love the chance to show you I can learn and be a asset to your trip.

I do have 1 cat which she can stay in my room but she's my life so I can't just abandon her so I know when most look at this they are gonna be "ARE YOU CRAZY" ???

No skills and 1 cat well let me add this on to drop your mouth a little wider.

I have tattoos and I smoke weed.

I DO NOT DO DRUGS NOR DRINK (LIKE 2X A YR IF THAT)

I smoke weed for pain because I don't do drugs but there's a time and a place for everything and I know how to act like a lady and how to be totally laid back off the chain fun.

I know there's a time and place for everything.

So why should you choose me ???

Because I have no baggage but my cat who is clean and you will love her just like her fans. She has a YouTube and Facebook page and everyone loves her.

I want this bad and willing to learn any tasks that are asked of me within reason.

I will never leave you hanging and if shit goes down I will have "YOUR BACK'.

I am a hard worker and can't get enough of learning about the boats, water while traveling to places I only see on YouTube.

Talk to me for a few minutes and see.

What do you have to loose but a few minutes of your time.

Don't judge this book by it's cover because there is so much too it just got to read into it. :)

If you have a problem with my cat don't hit me up 'WE'RE A PACKAGE DEAL !!!!

She doesn't destroy anything and she's very clean and again she can stay in my cabin.

Can contribute some money so let's talk.

Hugzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Magalina Masso (YouTube It)

**********MY DREAM*****

As I wake up wiping my eyes to open them and start my day I'm still not sure if I am awake.
As I put on my robe and walk into what should be my house I walk into the surroundings of a boat.
I look out the window on my left then right again and again and think could this be real it can't be.

I walk with every step picture of the pace till I reach the top of the boat and look at the most beautiful picture that is spread before me.

I walk to the edge and look down and around surrounding by water and a tear drops down my face.

I suddenly hear a voice and turn around and see "YOU" holding my cat BABYGIRL (on her leash) and say "SO HOW DOES IT FEEL TO KNOW YOUR DREAM IS REALITY NOW".

I take my BABYGIRL into my arms and say loud enough that I know I'm no longer sleeping "WE'RE FINALLY IN THE HOME WE'RE SUPPOSE TO BE IN" and as I kiss her forehead she meows in agreement.

AND THEN YOU PUSH US OVERBOARD AND WE GET EATEN BY SHARKS AND RIPPED APART AND AS THE BLOOD SEEPS INTO THE OCEAN YOU HURRY AND GRAB YOUR FISHING POLOE AND CATCH A BADAZZ TROUT LOLOLOLOL

Ok well I hope the 2nd part won't happen that would totally suck but hey at least you get my sense of humor when I smoke weed.

Yes people I was in so much pain this am from nerve damage to my leg I smoked and decided to write this blog before I go work out.
See not all potheads are lazy and act like this is your brain this is your brain on drugs type of shit lololol
Smoking me kinda slows me down alittle I have ADHD so like I am like some 8 year old kid who snuck into the stash on Halloween I have energy for 1,000 people so when I smoke weed I slow down not by much but alittle lololol

But hey this is the best time to teach me shit about the boat because I be into learning like crazy when I smoke and I have a awesome attention span so you can think you like a God teaching a newbie who who sooooooooooooooooo into what everyone thinks is like "YOU SHOULD HAVE SEEN THE SIZE OF THE FISH I CAUGHT BACK IN THE DAY' and don't tell me you don't have 1 or 2 of those story's everyone is so bored of hearing lololol

Ok I'm out I'm gonna go make a YouTube video lololol
Ya you can see me live if you go to YouTube and type in Magalina Masso or actually everywhere shit my azz is even on Google lololol

See you should be like OMG Magalina Masso wants to go live on a boat ????
Fukkkkkkk yaaaa let me jump on this shit right now !!!!!

You would never have to pay for entertainment if you have a yacht as long as they can handle "ADULT COMEDY".

So who's gonna be the lucky person ????????????????????????????

BTW did I meantion I'm a deep tissue masseuse :p

INFO ABOUT OUR 2016-17 JOURNEY WHERE YOU CAN PARTICIPATE AS CAPTAIN, NAVIGATOR, AND CREW. (Veritas/Skippers gives sailing courses during the journey for less experienced.)

Write a book, your philosophies or poems. Produce a video or a picture collection. Be a painter, look at moons and stars in the night, sunrise and sunsets, dive, fish, visit many harbours and cities or be creative as you like - at the same time as we sail from Europe westwards over the Atlantic Ocean to Carribean, Pacific Ocean towards Asia near Cambodia, Vietnam and finally to Thailand.

The journey will take approx. 14 months. The journey will start from Split, Croatia around 15th. October 2016. Before the journey starts the crew will go through a course on how it is to be on a Bavaria 50 yacht and for a longer period and a course in sailing this yacht(if never tried before). The yacht will sail mainly by sails but is able to pursue by engine keeping the schedule.

If we reach a crew of 8-10 persons, the basic crew contribution on the journey will be the amount of app. $ 35-40 per. day per person depending on general boat operation expenses, various expenses, and partly your qualifications. Basis contribution is also covering: Boat insurance (kasko, passenger insurance, liability) boat maintenance, equipment maintenance, spare-parts, and harbour fees. Furthermore your share of supply is approx. $ 200-300 (for food, fuel and beverages etc.)

Among security equipment there is a safety raft for 10-12 persons plus a rubber dinghy with an outbound engine and epirb. (see below for our basic equipment list). Veritas are taken care of daily by CYC-Croatia Yacht Club - www.croatiayachtclub.se/ CYC knows both Veritas and skipper: Peter Leif Tronborg Petersen

It will be possible to make tours on land and it is possible to proceed on land and join the vessel later on another place. During the journey it will be possible to visit smaller and larger harbours and islands and to take a hike around when its possible. It is not possible to predict accurate where we will go ashore and anchor, but it will be a part of the journey to harbours as often as it is possible. There will also be plentiful night sailings. On the journey we will also be concerned of all crew requirements, individually and in general.

Hi I am about to start a trip towards the end of September leaving from CA to stop in Oaxaca then head to S. America to travel around for a bit, go to Cuba in December and finally end in FL for the holidays. I would love the opportunity to sail to some of these destinations if possible. I'm not set on any specific locations, more interested in being able to enjoy the open water during my trip. Although my sailing experience is limited. I am extremely hard working and really want the hands on experience. Please read my profile for more info and contact me with any questions.
Best, Melissa

Hi Team,

Just a quick enquiry regarding popular ports throughout SE Asia that have your larger yachts docking at.

I am looking to join the yachting community and it would be easiest for me to look for work throughout SE Asia; any information would be deeply appreciated.

I have my STCW95 + 10, ENG1 and Senior First Aid, as well as experience in high end food service as well as nanny and working with children's check. I have sailed on in land lakes throughout my childhood, however have not worked on yachts before and I am looking to gain an array of experience.

Kind Regards,

Katherine

Adventure is my passion. I want to see the world while working and learning new skills. I had a dream of backpacking South America (roughing it) and have been fulfilling it since january 2014. Now I'm looking to work as amateur crew on a boat that will get me back home, or somewhere close. Being a civil engineer makes me a good problem solver and a practical man in almost any situation. I am physically fit and mentally strong. I like challenges and am usually a quick learner. My two favorite sports are surfing and yoga, I can give basic classes of both and am currently planning on becoming a certified yoga teacher. I can also play a bit of guitar and harmonica (not simultaneously, yet...) Nature, I love it. I just want to live. Be happy and make happy is my motto. Don´t hesitate to ask if you want to know more.

The catamaran is luxuriously equipped with freezer, fridge, water maker and warm water. On Bord we have a diving compressor and dive equipment as well as windsurf and surfequipement and a kayak free of charge for your disposal. time- and routeplan Wild One 2014 / 2015:

2014 we sail in Australia

October 2014 until mid of November 2014 - Witsunday Islands:
We are sailing in the many islands of the Witsunday Group - which is said to be Australia’s most wanted cruising grounds. Wonderful beaches, Wallabies, Turtles, Dolphins and 1000sends of Butterfies are what we discovered so far on our hikes through the unspoiled islands. From here we will make trips to the barrier reef for snorkeling and diving. Meeting up is best in Airly beach or Hamilton island which has flights from Brisbane twice a day.

mid November 2014 to mid of December 2014: Witsundays to Brisbane:
We hop from island to island and town to town to Brisbane. Total of 500 miles to be sailed. Meeting point can be agreed and is flexible time wise. More than 100 islands are on our way to Brisbane. We have the chance to visit spots someone can only visit via boat and enjoy the unique wilderness and wildlife of Australia as well as visit towns on the way like Maryborough, Noosa, Mackay, Gladstone and Rockhampton. Fly to Hamilton Island (twice daily from Brisbane) and depart from Brisbane or hop off at any town on the way.

mid December to end of December 2014 - Cruising around Brisbane:
Brisbane is an interesting cruising area since sheltered by Moreton island. Moreton island is also known for the herds of humpback whales coming by. Besides sailing we will focus on whale watching, surfing and diving in this area. Fly directly from and to Brisbane.

Beginning of March to mid of March 2015 – Brisbane to Witsunday Islands:
We hop from island to island and town to town to Witsunday Islands. Total of 500 miles to be sailed. More than 100 islands and the Barrier reef are on our way to Witsunday Islands. We have the chance to visit spots someone can only visit via boat and enjoy the unique wilderness and wildlife of Australia as well as visit towns on the way like Maryborough, Noosa, Mackay, Gladstone and Rockhampton. Wonderful beaches, Wallabies, Turtles, Dolphins and thousends of Butterflies are what we have discovered so far on our hikes through the unspoiled islands. We planed to visit the barrier reef for diving. Fly to Brisbane and depart from Hamilton Island (twice daily from Brisbane).

mid of March to end of March 2015 - Witsundays to Cairns:
Relaxant day sailing within the Barrier reef with many protected anchor and divespots. We will visit a number of islands and discover unspoiled Australian Wildlife on our island hikes. Only 250 miles to sail from anchorage to anchorage. Near Townsville we can dive the Yongala wreck which is said to be one of the worlds best wreckdives. Snorkelling, Diving, Surfing and discovering unspoiled islands is what we do on that trip.

April 2015 – Cairns to Darvin:
The first stretch to Thursday islands is a pleasant passage from anchorage to anchorage within the protection of the Barrier reef. A lot of diving and snorkelling is possible on this trip. We will discover some of the islands on the way. Lizard island is a must on our way up north.
Cooktown and Port Douglas are small fishertowns on our way and worth checking out. The Daintry Nationalpark is renown for its unique Flora and Fauna. Mid of April we will arrive at dive- and snorkelparadise Thursday islands. From there to Darvin we go through the challenging Torresstrait. On our way we will have stopovers at the Wessel islands. Arrival in Darvin will be end of April.

Mai 2015: Darvin – Christmas island – Cocos Keeling:
The bluewaterpassage from Darvin to Christmas Island of 1500 miles will take about 10 days of sailling. We planned one week exploring the off the beaten path lying Christmas Island which is still part of Australia and known for its good diving and snorkelling.
Only 500 miles and about 3 days to Cocos Keeling which is also in the middle of nowhere. The island is visited only by a few cruising sailors.

June 2015: Cocos Keeling to Rodriques island:
We are expecting a fast and pleasant ocean crossing with the tradewinds from behind. The 2000miles should be covered in about two weeks. The rest of the month we spend at Rodriques Island which is close to Mauritius and a secret under cruisers. Locals are said to integrate the rare visitors into their island community. We plan diving and snorkeling and hikes on the steep volcanic island.

July 2015: Rodriques Island – Mauritius – La Reunion:
These 3 volcanic islands lie within a few hundred miles which leaves us sufficient time to explore them. La Reunion and Mauritius a reknown as world-class kite and surf spots. There are also nice island trials allowing to explore the steep volcanic islands by foot or mountainbike.

August 2015: La Reunion to Richardsbay (Southafrica):
Only 1300 miles to sail passing the southern tip of Madagascar. Richardsbay is famous for surfing and a good starting point for safaris into the game parks close by.

September 2015 – Around cape of good hope to Capetown:
We sail round the cape of good hope in settled weather which will allow for a pleasant cruise. We will have weather related stops in Durban, Port Elizabeth, Knysna and Mosselbaai and need about 10 days for the 1000mile passage. Various game parks can easily be reached from the harbour towns. The remaining September weeks we spend in Capetown and Langebaan Lagoon with surfing, kiting, diving and hiking. Kapetown itself as town is worth visiting.

11th to 31st of August - we continue to Bismark Island (PNG) - New Ireland, New Hanover New Britain in that order. We sail and maybe dive there until end of August. A returnflight would be from the Bismark Islands via national flight to Port Moresby (int. Airport).

Solomon Islands - from Buka Island in the Nw to San Christobal in the SE
From 1st to 30th of September we cross the Solomon Islands from NW to SE - starting with Buka Island, Bougainville, Choiseul, Santa Isabell Island, Guadacanal Island, and we will be at San Christobal island end of September.

Aloha, I’m Ari Safari , I'm based in Honolulu right now. I have a unique situation. I am everything from perched upon to nestled into ,to diving under and wrestling with …my gorgeous 70’ teak and Mahogony sailboat. She’s a beauty and sails like a dream but she’s also several handfuls to handle!
I got into this fine vessel with a partner and a dream. The partner couldn’t walk his talk or pull his weight so now it’s just me and She. Rosalie Claire. AKA… R.C.
She’s a lot to handle for one lone female with a vision ,so I’m seeking an able bodied partner or maybe a few, who want to jump on board with me. I mean really jump on board and get involved in the boat ,the vision and the passion to be a part of healing the planet .
She’s got great potential but needs some skilled ,capable adventurous dynamos to make the dream come true. I’ve been at it solo for two years now. I’m grateful for all the angels that have come my way over the years of preparing this vessel and building the dream and I’m now ready for some full on partnerships. Otherwise… I may have to abandon ship…She is listed. Just in case…

Are you "an adventurer with some sailing experience and a track record in difficult/dangerous terrain. This description would of course include any experienced sailor who has logged significant ocean miles."

Join any of the nine legs of the Ocean Sailing Club's "Ends of the Earth" Challenge. We are attempting to be the first yacht to sail in consecutive summers (of the same year!) between the world's two most extreme towns - from Ushuaia, behind Cape Horn, to Hammerfest some 400 miles into the Arctic Circle above Norway.

It's not all hard work. Yes, we will be sailing round Cape Horn and on to South Georgia for the centenary of Shackleton's Antarctic Expedition. But there will also be time to visit Carnival in Rio, cruise the Caribbean and log a North Atlantic Crossing. But if you do want something a bit more exciting, what about the final "Norse Saga" leg from Dublin to the Hebrides, Faroe Islands, and then on to the Norwegian fjords of Tromso and Hammerfest, in the "Land of the Midnight Sun
