LAST WISH By: Magalina Replies: 1 Views: 9

I recently found out some medical news that without treatment will take my life in about 6-8 months.
I have chosen not to go through with treatment but before I go I have a small list I want to complete.
I always wanted to work on a boat but now the time has run out so all I want is to spend some time at sea.
I don't have a passport and not sure if I can get one but looking into it now.
I have permanent nerve damage to my legs, back and neck so I use a wheelchair some of the time.
I have very little money (I'm on SSI-SSD) but I will offer what I can.
Does anyone have the room for one more if you're leaving out of Cape Canaveral between October - January?
I'm looking into a cruise but that's alot of money for someone like me who has very little to offer.
I will pay for my own food and won't be in the way. I prefer to sleep out on deck than in a room.
I'm also looking to go out on a boat deep sea fishing for the day or even an overnighter :)
If I had my way I stay at sea till I die :p

I'm also working with different cruise planners so if you would like to help make my last wish possible you can donate directly if I can't find anyone that owns a boat, ship, sailboat, yacht privately.

Please respect my decision.
Nobody can change my mind nor am I going to allow anybody to make what little time I have left on this earth miserable so please either respect my wishes or stay out of my way.

https://youtu.be/1ugcyXOk-hc

If there is anybody out there that can help me complete this bucket list I would appreciate it.
I'm in Sebastian, Florida so a lot of what I want to do is not too far from me I just financially can't afford to do alot of it.

You can contact me directly at maggzzmasso@gmail.com so they don't get that 2.9% and I have someone I'm working with from different cruise lines if you want to help with my #1 wish.

Thank You and God Bless
Please Share !!!!!

BUCKET LIST

1) Spend A Day Fishing On A Boat (Overnight Awesome)
Maybe see some dolphins and or whales but no Jaws I'm good with not being a shark next meal :p

2) Go To Brevard Zoo And Maybe Get backstage access to a few animals? Lions, tigers and bears and giraffe ;)

3) Sea World / Swim With Dolphins, not sure they even allow it anymore hmmm

***********************************************************
Take A Cruise And Maybe Get Romanced And Have The Most Memorable Day & Night Ever (Like Cinderella Without The Heals )

***********************************************************

I have about 6 months to complete this can you help me make this happen?

Hi, we're looking for crewing opportunities Nov to Feb time as taken 4months off work. I have done a bit (stcw95, IYT & RYA courses, 2000nm & some employment at a charter boat company) and my girl friend is new to it, but a fast learner and very able.

Really keen to find a friendly boat that we can get involved in all elements of sailing, can cook, clean, sail and pay our way. Both 32, non smokers, willing, fit, able and happy to follow instructions.

Hope we can find a boat as booked our time off and so ready for an adventure.

All our best

Hello
My name is Claudio Marinoni I am Italian. I am 54 years old.
I am living in Mexico.
I am a chef, although in fact more traveling and adventurous.
I have no knowledge of seafaring but I am a very good swimmer (even in the South Atlantic).
I close my restaurant in Mexico and I have no ties that will hold me here, so I am free to travel.
I have good character but energetic.
I do not have special requirements for daily life and enjoyment of excellent health.
I do not smoke and I drink moderately in company.
Of the English language I lost the practice, I understand the French, the Catalan, some Dutch (the meals) and I speak perfectly Spanish and Italian.
I would like to make a boat navigation experience.
At your service

I also crewed a Atlantic crossing with a 52 ft catamaran and I worked already on boats as Chef, Stew and Dackhand.

I like to sailing and travel my plan is to see a bit of the world and get away from the system that we calling normality... I like to be in the nature and to do som hikes. I start this travel in may 2016 and walked from Austria to Spain just with my back back and tent, from there I started to hitchhiking boats to cross the atlantic.

My current location is St.Thomas US Virgin Islands I'm looking for a possibility getting to south america. So if you're heading south and want some company, help and cook on board please contact me.

Hey all. I'm a thirty three year old male with no sailing experience but am desperate for a challenge and an adventure. I've heard about the legality of ayahuasca and San Pedro ceremonies in Peru and other parts of South America and can't stop thinking about it. Im in it purely for its healing potential. So I'm looking for a sailboat that needs able bodied crew and is willing to teach me everything about sailing. I'm a fast learner and a hard worker. This would also hopefully be a position that pays as I'll need some cash in Peru and have no money saved. Im a fairly laid back athletic person who likes to read, swim and play guitar. I can cook and clean and am pretty technical. I studied communication technology and have a bachelor's degree. Hopefully you're a captain or a boat looking for someone you can train to be a sailing badass!

Hi, I'm a traveller looking for a job on a boat as a great alternative to travelling via plane or car/bus. I have no experience but am willing to learn and put in work :)
I'm from Germany but have been away from home for the last 2 1/2 years spending my time working as an Au Pair in NY and volunteering/working in hostels and bars in Guatemala. My next destination will be Havanna, Cuba mid June. I would love to find some volunteer work in exchange for room and board on a boat starting in Havanna cruising through the Caribbean sea. I'm very open minded, fast learning and independent. I speak fluent german and english, and very little spanish.

Thanks :)

I would be experienced by then so I think I'd be a competent crew member. Since I'd be qualified I'm not expecting a 'shared cost agreement', I'll work for free or for pay only. I'm currently studying/living in Barbados so anyone interested in sailing from/in the Caribbean from summer 2018 feel free to contact me.

Hey there! Do you have amazing stories of adventure or serendipity or other excitement on the water? Do you think your tale or tales should be put in print and made available for the rest of the world to be entertained by? If so, I can make that happen!

I'm a sailor, engineer, and author and I own a publishing company. I'll be in the Florida Keys tied to land for 1 month (til 4/6/2017) and if there's enough interest, I'd love to use this time to interview boaters in the area with stories. With any story I believe would be of interest to the public, I will offer my writing and publishing services for a fee and create ebooks, with distribution possible through a number of channels. I currently distribute through Amazon, Apple, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, Smashwords and several libraries.

If I get enough interest to write several stories, I may also be able to publish a full-sized compilation book, and perhaps even turn it into a paper book!

If you're interested in a longer work or biography, I'd be happy to discuss those services, as well.

And if you wish for your own writing to be published, that's another possibility!

Fees will be dependent on the length and format of work, which will vary.

Please get in touch before I leave if you have interest, and I can come to meet you for a free consultation before making an agreement and hear about your story!

Broadreach, a leader in adventure and experiential education, with programs operating in over 30 countries for middle school, high school and college students, is hiring Sailing Instructors for the summer! Sailing Instructors/Skippers lead summer live-aboard diving, sailing and marine science programs for teens and college students in the Caribbean. Broadreach is an IYT (International Yacht Training) partner school and offers courses from “Introduction to Yachting” to “Flotilla Skipper”. Skippers sail and live with students aboard 40-50 ft. catamarans and monohulls, so they must be enthusiastic about working with teenagers.

Broadreach programs are limited to 12 students per program and are led by a team of two to three instructors. Program instructors travel with students 24/7 for weeks at a time, so a high level of energy is necessary along with strong leadership and communication skills. Our programs range from 12 to 31 days and can be mentally and physically challenging for students and instructors which makes having a positive attitude key.

In addition to sailing instruction and skippering the yacht, instructors are expected to help out with all aspects of the program including supervising students 24/7, managing group dynamics, assisting students with cooking and cleaning duties, completing course paperwork, supporting scuba training and other program activities. Skippers work alongside a dive instructor to successfully lead a program from sailing, instruction, leading onshore excursions to group management and more. This fun and rewarding position requires a strong desire to be a positive role model to students to encourage personal growth and promote leadership development.

Contract length varies from two to three months starting in late May through early to late August.

Qualifications:
• Licensed US Coast Guard Captain, Yacht Master or equivalent experience.
• Comfort operating a yacht over 45 feet from standard operations to sail training.
• Small boat handling skills. You will be expected to regularly operate RIBs and small boats with 6hp to 50hp outboards.
• Able to confidently anchor in tight anchorages and maneuver in tight harbors under power.
• Understanding of basic yacht and diesel engine maintenance.
• Experience in multiday sailing trips/deliveries/chartering.
• Experience teaching sailing preferred.
• Experience working with teens and young adults preferred.
• Passionate about mentoring and motivating students.
• Success working in team settings.
• Good physical health and stamina to actively participate and encourage students throughout program duration.
• A positive and team-oriented attitude.
• Able to attend staff training in St. Martin in early June.

Hi I'm Magalina Masso aka Maggzz

I have always wanted to travel and just go live on a boat.

The closest I've been on a boat is the Sterling Casino for 2 hours and that really doesn't count because I was indoors the whole time.

I love to travel and I love to have a good time. (not sexual)

I have no sea miles on the water but I am a quick learner and would love the chance to show you I can learn and be a asset to your trip.

I do have 1 cat which she can stay in my room but she's my life so I can't just abandon her so I know when most look at this they are gonna be "ARE YOU CRAZY" ???

No skills and 1 cat well let me add this on to drop your mouth a little wider.

I have tattoos and I smoke weed.

I DO NOT DO DRUGS NOR DRINK (LIKE 2X A YR IF THAT)

I smoke weed for pain because I don't do drugs but there's a time and a place for everything and I know how to act like a lady and how to be totally laid back off the chain fun.

I know there's a time and place for everything.

So why should you choose me ???

Because I have no baggage but my cat who is clean and you will love her just like her fans. She has a YouTube and Facebook page and everyone loves her.

I want this bad and willing to learn any tasks that are asked of me within reason.

I will never leave you hanging and if shit goes down I will have "YOUR BACK'.

I am a hard worker and can't get enough of learning about the boats, water while traveling to places I only see on YouTube.

Talk to me for a few minutes and see.

What do you have to loose but a few minutes of your time.

Don't judge this book by it's cover because there is so much too it just got to read into it. :)

If you have a problem with my cat don't hit me up 'WE'RE A PACKAGE DEAL !!!!

She doesn't destroy anything and she's very clean and again she can stay in my cabin.

Can contribute some money so let's talk.

Hugzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Magalina Masso (YouTube It)

**********MY DREAM*****

As I wake up wiping my eyes to open them and start my day I'm still not sure if I am awake.
As I put on my robe and walk into what should be my house I walk into the surroundings of a boat.
I look out the window on my left then right again and again and think could this be real it can't be.

I walk with every step picture of the pace till I reach the top of the boat and look at the most beautiful picture that is spread before me.

I walk to the edge and look down and around surrounding by water and a tear drops down my face.

I suddenly hear a voice and turn around and see "YOU" holding my cat BABYGIRL (on her leash) and say "SO HOW DOES IT FEEL TO KNOW YOUR DREAM IS REALITY NOW".

I take my BABYGIRL into my arms and say loud enough that I know I'm no longer sleeping "WE'RE FINALLY IN THE HOME WE'RE SUPPOSE TO BE IN" and as I kiss her forehead she meows in agreement.

AND THEN YOU PUSH US OVERBOARD AND WE GET EATEN BY SHARKS AND RIPPED APART AND AS THE BLOOD SEEPS INTO THE OCEAN YOU HURRY AND GRAB YOUR FISHING POLOE AND CATCH A BADAZZ TROUT LOLOLOLOL

Ok well I hope the 2nd part won't happen that would totally suck but hey at least you get my sense of humor when I smoke weed.

Yes people I was in so much pain this am from nerve damage to my leg I smoked and decided to write this blog before I go work out.
See not all potheads are lazy and act like this is your brain this is your brain on drugs type of shit lololol
Smoking me kinda slows me down alittle I have ADHD so like I am like some 8 year old kid who snuck into the stash on Halloween I have energy for 1,000 people so when I smoke weed I slow down not by much but alittle lololol

But hey this is the best time to teach me shit about the boat because I be into learning like crazy when I smoke and I have a awesome attention span so you can think you like a God teaching a newbie who who sooooooooooooooooo into what everyone thinks is like "YOU SHOULD HAVE SEEN THE SIZE OF THE FISH I CAUGHT BACK IN THE DAY' and don't tell me you don't have 1 or 2 of those story's everyone is so bored of hearing lololol

Ok I'm out I'm gonna go make a YouTube video lololol
Ya you can see me live if you go to YouTube and type in Magalina Masso or actually everywhere shit my azz is even on Google lololol

See you should be like OMG Magalina Masso wants to go live on a boat ????
Fukkkkkkk yaaaa let me jump on this shit right now !!!!!

You would never have to pay for entertainment if you have a yacht as long as they can handle "ADULT COMEDY".

So who's gonna be the lucky person ????????????????????????????

BTW did I meantion I'm a deep tissue masseuse :p

Searching skipper with boat for 2 week sailing trip - recommendations? By: avidjo Replies: 4 Views: 59

Hello everyone!

We are a group of 4-6 people and plan to go sailing in the Carribbean from ~christmas 2016 to January 7th 2017.

We don't have a specific region in mind, the area around Guadeloupe (Dominica, Antigua, Barbuda,...) looks very appealing though.

Neither of us can sail, so we are looking for a good and knowledgable skipper and a boat (catamaran preferred).

There are plenty of companies who offer catamarans with skipper and more, but that's highly expensive (6000-10000 €/week is a bit too much). The prices are understandably high, as these are companies with corresponding structure, personell and seats in Europe. We are more looking for sometihng local, maybe someone who lives there and earns his money with sailing trips.

Who has experience with a skipper, knows someone or has contacts?

thanks a lot

I'm thiry years of age and I've lived in the same metroplex for that entire time. I think its time for me to go on an adventure. I'd love to go around the world. I don't have much money, but I'm intelligent, a quick study, and I'm a hard worker. I'm currently in the middle of my ASA 101 course, so I have the basics down, just need to try the open sea.

Let me know if you would like to have me along. I can clean and cook, and I'm good company.

Hi there,
We (my boyfriend, 42 and I, 31) are in a Caribbean trip. How better it would be by boat. We are kind of amateur crew, we were used to sail some years ago, but, you know, as bicycle it can't be forgotten! If you prefer the solid value, you can ask us for cooking (french cooking, we are on it!), for cleaning, anyway, let's discuss if you're interested.
Few words about us, Ben is fly fishing addict, photographer and work as documentary film maker. I work in fashion, and nature lover. Both of us are curious and people say we are friendly, aswell funny ;-)
We are at the moment in Dominican Republic, soon in Cuba and next ... wherever you and us want!
Let's contact me
Warmly
Alyette

We are 2 medical students studying in Latvia who are looking to join a crew in mid-January until early February.

We are both relatively inexperienced with sailing but are eager to learn the ropes! We are friendly, hard working and reliable. Because we are students, we are on a budget but are more than happy to pay for the costs of keeping us aboard. Please post a response if you have any leads!

Can anybody give me some advice or orientation about how to find a boat and where? I don't any experience nor knowdledge on sailing, but I'm willing to colaborate for the supplies needed on board and ofcourse as well with the chores.

Thanks for your help!
Responsible couple looking to charter a boat in the Leeward Islands for 2-3 months By: glannie Replies: 2 Views: 47

Hi,
My girlfriend and I are planning a 2-3 month trip around the Caribbean starting at the end of December. We originally considered buying a boat and then reselling it at the end of the trip, but this seems pretty involved and perhaps a little irresponsible. However, if we were to charter a boat from one of the various charter companies it would be around $40k!, which is somewhat above our budget.
I wanted to reach out to this forum to see is anyone would be willing to charter their own boat for 3 months. We’re definitely not looking for the newest boat. The sort of boats we were looking at buying were 1980s Beneteaus or Jeanneau. We just need something that comfortable, well maintained and will get us round.
We’re both very responsible people, taking a career break from working at Amazon, and would really look after whatever boat we charter.
If anyone would be interested in doing this, please PM me.
Thanks
Glenn

Hi there,

In late October / early November 2016, I'll be looking to fly out and meet up with a boat looking for an amateur crew member.

With years of hospitality experience, plenty of life experience, and a strong desire to live the next year or so travelling the seas - I'm eager to learn about the boating opportunities available to hardworking individuals like myself.

I'm healthy and capable of doing my share of the work.

Please connect with me if you're interested in learning more and/or are in a position to take on a new crew member.

I'm currently based in Ottawa, Canada - but, I'm willing to fly to your location.

Thanks!

We are looking for crew on a shared cost basis to sail with us from Kingston Jamaica to Panama (Bocas del Toro) via Providencia (Columbian island off Nicaragua)...You could join for all or part of the trip, depending. Please check out our facebook page: www.sea-rah.com for a better idea of us, our boat and living conditions. Perfect for a couple or 1-2 individuals. Couple would have their own berth in the forepeak (triangle bed) - individuals would have bunks. Sailing experience preferred but not essential. Please note that this is not a luxury yacht or pleasure cruiser but it's our lovely home where we live and travel and we are willing to share it with the right person/people for the fun. Estimated shared costs approx. $50-75USD pppd depending on location (cruising permits) and whether in marinas or anchoring out, etc. Crew expected to help with light cooking and cleaning, as well as nightwatches. We have awesome adventures and are a fun, young couple into kayaking, freediving, snorkeling, windsurfing ;). Expect a few days in Jamaica, with time for land adventures and then when the wind is right a 4-5 day trip to Providencia, then some time there before sailing 4-5 days to Bocas (possibly via Nicaragua and Costa Rica too, weather/crew-dependent). Crew responsible for own visas and own land excursions.

I keep a 52 foot three cabin motor yacht in the Caribbean and sail in the eastern Caribbean Grenada Martinique Barbados area for two weeks in November and two weeks in April each year
We generally spend most around the grenadines
I plan to retire in about two or three years time and spend circa eight weeks on board sailing from Barbados northwards to the BVI
I am a 64 year old Irishman and enjoy spending lots of time at anchor in locations such as Saltwhistle bay in Mayreau and simply read books swim and enjoy getting to know the locals
I would like to get to know likeminded people who are easy going and relaxed and would like to join me on board for some of the two week trips over the next three years with a view to also coming along for the eight week trip to the BVI in three years time

Hello, thanks for checking out my post! So here's my deal:

I'm a 30 year old guy from California who loves everything Latin America! I am lacking any Carribean island experience, and would love to join a boat going any and everywhere in the region. I did spend 2 weeks sailing from Ecuador to Galapagos and surrounding, and the experience got me hooked and fiending for more.

After finishing my MBA in the states, I have been travelling around the world for the last 5 years working online. I can fly anywhere to meet ya but am currently based in Colombia. I really enjoy cooking healthy meals and am a lifelong student - one of my next aspirations to become more adept to the sailing life and all that it entails. I'm looking to spend anywhere from 2-6 weeks on a boat as a recreational crew member, contributing to expenses/food/drinks/activities as we go along, and can also offer help doing nightwatches, cooking, cleaning, maintenance, and really any general assistance.

An extremely avid skateboarder, 20 years surfing (I am NOT great), and always more comfy in nature - I'd really like to start dedicating a month a year or so of my life to living on boat and learning the ins and outs. So I'm not completely inexperienced, but also don't have heaps of expertise to offer. I am a fairly well traveled and well-educated kid, clocking in at just under 50 countries and one filled up passport. My schedule is basically completely open. I have some work in Uruguay at the end of september and that's about all. Expenses are not a problem for me, I'm fortunate enough to have a great job with no boss or schedule and I can work remotely from anywhere in the world or simply take off months at a time if I feel the need. Please let me know if there might be any matching interests, and thank you for taking the time to get to know me a bit - I hope to learn more about your journey!

Best,

Bryan

Hey,

We are a couple from Switzerland and we are traveling since august in South-America. Around the 24th of April to the end of May we would love to go sailing from Trinidad or Tobago to the Caribbean as a part of our adventure and to expend our horizon.

We are honest, hard working, respectful, simply, fond of travelling and a happy couple. The ocean is fascinating and we love to feel the nature.

We are open to do everything on and around the boat. Lena studied social pedagogy and Remo is a Service Engineer with a lot of experience in electricity and mechanism. We speak fluently German, experienced English and Spanish.

Hope to hear soon from you,
Regards,

I'm open to short trips or even sailing the world if its a good fit. It would be good if i find a vegetarian/vegan sailing family, but i'm open to not having that opportunity as well as long as i'm not cooking with gmo's, artificial food, or meat/animal products on board.

I've seen them several times and would love to see them in DR. I am now more based in Caribbean. Currently in Ft. Lauderdale leaving this week sailing to South America. I plan on being between USVI and St. Maarten for January. I am looking to see if anyone would like to get together and sail to DR for the show. It would be a lot of fun. I have friends coming from Colorado. Or if any one knows of deliveries going to DR around January 24-28th and could let me know about it that would be great. Let me know your thoughts!!!

Before I start getting hate mail from misandrists, let me clarify this offer. I'm a (formerly) professional captain with a lot of sea miles under my keel. Over the years I've made several blue water passages with "all girl crews" and I find they're just as good as men at standing watch and can be just a helpful on deck. They also tend to be better company, better cooks, cleaner roommates and, sure, nicer to look at. No need for angry people to read more into my posting than that. I just want to line up crew - young, healthy, adventurous crew - for an upcoming passage, and I prefer women. If that offends you, please just go someplace else. Women interested in this trip, details are at www.silverheels.us/crew2.htm , then contact me from there. If you just post a message to me on this site I may not see it.

Thanks.

broadreach Posted: 2016-02-29 19:12
Job Description:
Sailing Instructors/Skippers needed in the Caribbean for summer live-aboard diving, sailing and marine science programs for teens and college students.

Program instructors live and travel with students 24/7 for weeks at a time, so a high level of energy is necessary along with strong leadership and communication skills. Our programs range from 12 to 31 days and can be mentally and physically challenging for students and instructors, so a positive attitude is key.

In addition to sailing instruction and skippering the yacht, instructors are expected to help out with all aspects of the program including supervising students 24/7, managing group dynamics, assisting students with cooking and cleaning duties, completing course paperwork, supporting scuba training and other program activities. Skippers work alongside a dive instructor to successfully lead a program from sailing, instruction, leading onshore excursions, to group management and more. This fun and rewarding position requires a strong desire to be a positive role model to students to encourage personal growth and to promote leadership development.

Contract length varies from two to three months starting in early June through early to late August.

Qualifications:
• Licensed US Coast Guard Captain, Yacht Master or equivalent experience.
• Operate a yacht over 45 feet from standard operations to sail training.
• Small boat handling skills. You will be expected to regularly operate RIBs and small boats with 6hp to 50hp outboards.
• Able to confidently anchor in tight anchorages, maneuver in tight harbors under power
• Understanding of basic yacht and diesel engine maintenance.
• Experience in multiday sailing trips/deliveries/chartering.
• Experience teaching sailing preferred.
• Experience working with teens and young adults preferred.
• Passionate about mentoring and motivating students.
• Good decision making skills, flexibility, and the ability to think on your feet and adapt to changing environments while maintaining the safety and health of all students.
• Success working in team settings.
• Good physical health and stamina to actively participate and encourage students throughout program duration.
• A positive and team-oriented attitude.
• Able to attend staff training in St. Martin in early June.

We are a fun, adventure loving couple, both teachers so on a budget, amateurs to sailing, but we are flexible, love to cook and can take directions well! We are searching for a boat that is going in either direction Belize to Panama or the other. Flying is so expensive and a bus would take long plus I'd rather be on the open ocean and learn few things about boats! Would be awesome to also visit some islands on the way if the captain is interested to do some snorkeling, (as we don't have diver certs but I heard that's not always necessary to see cool things in this area!). The visits to islands isn't a must though because we can do that separately. Please let us know if your time frame and places match ours, we would love to talk with you!

Hi - I'm a single mom looking for a boat school teacher for my kids (age 10 & 13) and a first mate for a one year voyage (maybe more) starting in October 2015 from North East Coast of America to the Caribbean & Bahamas. Helping out all around the boat. I've been waiting to do this until I found the right man, and at this point, I've decided the waiting is over. Must be a non-drama person. You'll be around my kids, so seriously, no drama. Calm, cool and collected. Professional. Help out in whatever way is needed. Be willing to learn. Will pay for travel to/from boat and food. No romantic interest whatsoever. If this isn't you, please do not reply!

I am a 27 year old female from the UK. I have been working for Tradewinds for the past 2 years as a first mate/chef onboard a 52ft catamaran. We run week long charters out of Sint Maarten for up to 10 guests. My captain and I have recently parted ways so I am looking for a new Captain to work with.
I can honestly say this is the best job in the world. You build great relationships with the guests and get paid to sail, snorkel, dive everyday.

Hello Hannah. I'm a commercial Yachtmaster Ocean looking for work in the Caribbean this coming season.
Aiming for Saint Maarten. I had a very successful season in Cape Verde Islands last year (if you can cut it there you can cut it anywhere!). Then back to UK to drive a marine research vessel for good money. Done that and need to get back to wind powered navigation.
I have excellent social skills and like to entertain.
I am also a qualified carpenter, marine mechanic, rigger, chef and musician, so I'm geared up for charter work or private yacht.
Please let me know if you have a position available or know anyone who needs a reliable and experienced skipper this season.
Many thanks

Please find further information on our site http://alive.cms4people.de/route_description.html or send an email to mernstbrunner@hotmail.com
You can share our lifestyle for a certain amount of time without financial risks involved in owning a boat. The costs to maintain the boat are pretty high as well – annually about 25.000€ for maintenance.
This is why I have to ask my crew for a cost contribution which gets less the longer the crewmember stays.
Enjoy our lifestyle for a restricted time without a financial risk.

Best is to choose a certain place and time when to visit us so that I can let you know if a bunk is available and reserve you the space after you have booked your flights. It is also possible to come for shorter sails than listed above – just let me know your timeframe and we can agree on the details via mail.
We are max 6 persons on bord with 3 double cabins and two toilets available. Information from a neutral viewpoint of how life is on bord of Wild One in form of comments from visiting crew you can find on our site under team / guests. You can also contact crewmembers who visited us in the past. (let me know if interested and I send you a contact email of somebody in your region)
Wild One is not a charterboat and you would help, live and sail as a crewmember with us sharing all the fun but work as well.
We are trying to find spots with little tourism and that way we often meet interesting local people and see nice unspoiled places.
On bord is dive, kite, surf, mountain bike and windsurf equipment you can use.
Wild One is with 49 feet and only 6 tons one of the fastest Cruising Cats, sailing her is exiting with topspeed up to 20kn and cruisingspeed up to 15kn. The costs to maintain the boat are pretty high as well – annually about 25.000€ for maintenance.
This is why I have to ask my crew for a cost contribution which becomes less the longer the crewmember stays. It is 690€ / week for the first two weeks, 590€ / week for the 3rd and 4th week, 490€ for every additional week.
There is a 10% discount for crew joining again.
These contributions do not cover my costs at all but help me to keep running. I hope for your understanding. Food and fuel we share from the cruising kitty and is additional 60€ by week and person.
I believe that our cost share is fair since our crew can enjoy sailing with an exceptional boat and enjoy our lifestyle for a restricted time without a financial risk but sure has to contribute a little.
Please let me know when exactly and for how long you want to sail with us.
I would appreciate a short feedback to mernstbrunner@onsatmail.com – my satphoneaccount I can also receive while sailing. Please only short text since expansive and very slow. Delete old text in case of email replies.

Cheers
Martin

Wanna co-own a boat with me? Become a 'pirate' of the Caribbean! By: louislouis Replies: 6 Views: 292

louislouis
louislouis Posted: 2014-09-22 17:35
I'm looking for people who want to do an adventure with me and co-own a sail boat with me!

We'd be free to roam and go visiting as many destinations in the caribbean for 6 months from December to June.

In the grand scheme of things, I'm not talking big sums of money here either. Depending on how many of us there are, we could put in a few thousand bucks in each and own 10-20% of it each and realistically get something 30ft+ for as little as $10,000. Obviously a luxury yacht would be out of our reach, but the more people involved in the this, the more chance there is of suceeding, and the more the merrier, the lower the individual costs and the better boat we could get.

Picture this...
Wind in your hair, warm sun on your skin, learning to sail, fishing, island hopping via the most electric-neon blue seas on earth, to find the finest, whitest sand around, scuba diving at all the best spots along the way (I'm a Master Instructor so can certify you if you are not already qualified), spear fishing for the freshest seafood - straght to BBQ and on a plate within the hour, drinking milk from the coconut, caribbean rum from the bottle, partying with the locals, skinny dipping at night and having a break-from-the-norm type of experience for a couple of weeks - in and around your normal lifestyle, OR for a few months as a break from normal life.

You can spend as much or as little time on it as you like and at the end of the 6 months, we'll sell her and there's even a chance you'll get all your money back! And if not... think of it this way... Its not just a boat your investing in, its an adventure of a lifetime - usually only available to the rich and famous!

Yes you can try and get on someone else's boat, and go where they want, and do what they say.... OR, you can really be a part of something cool like this. Everyone helps out with the sailing and maintenance and we go where we like. No schedule in stone, no plans, no drama, no worries. Just getting along, pulling together for an hour a day or so, and mainly having fun.

Maybe you are a captain without a boat and you can bring your experience to the table... Maybe you have worked in hospitality and you can bring your catering or house keeping skills to the table. Maybe you are an engineer, maybe you are a musician... maybe maybe maybe.?

Come-on lets make this happen! You'll be investing in an achievement, a voyage and a priceless story to tell the grandkids to show them what kind of person you were really like in your prime! Are you mad enough to let it slip through your fingers?

Never does a time come in life when there are NO obstacles that stand in your way, between where you are and where we want to go or what you want to do. But I know that all obstacles can be passed - if we try hard enough we'll find a way. Whether that is to go over or UNDER the hurdle, there's a way. And the memories of a trip like this, where we are free to choose our own destination and path, would be worth every penny.

Think of it as an extended holiday, and come for a month or several? - Where accomodation is paid for!

Trust me dude, in life, there is never gonna be a gap, or a perfect opportunity. Things like this, IF they come around, they need to be pounced upon, before they pass you by. Dont wait for circumstances and other factors to be perfect because chasing perfection is like chasing your tail - and life will pass you by and ALL you'll have become an expert at making excuses. C'mon guys, we can do this...!

Doesnt it conger up within you a primeval excitment, doesnt it give you a goal - a task, a purpose, a destiny, a learning opportunity, a degree of risk and excitment, a sense of contribution, belonging, achievement? These are the things that we need in our lives my friends.

Join me. . . ?

:)

Hello !
Sounds like a great adventure and who knows. I was actually thinking about doing something similar to this. How would it work exactly with buying the boat as i am not currently in the caribbean. Recently got back from a trip to the BVI. It was amazing but left me hungry for more.
Let me know if you are serious and if there is some way to make this dream a reality.

Hi - I'm a single mom looking for a boat school teacher for my kids (age 10 & 13) and a first mate for a one year voyage starting in October 2015 from North East Coast of America to the Caribbean & Bahamas. Helping out all around the boat. I've been waiting to do this until I found the right man, and at this point, I've decided the waiting is over. Must be a non-drama person. You'll be around my kids, so seriously, no drama. Calm, cool and collected. Professional. Will pay for travel to/from boat and food. No romantic interest whatsoever. If this isn't you, please do not reply!

We should be arriving Cancun around mid May and wish to look for sail boat from Cancun to Cuba.
If someone is planning to kick off this route around May, please do let me know and we would be interested in joining and sharing costs and laugh!

I'm thinking about buying a 25' live aboard. Small problem is I know very little about sailing. So helping crew your boat would be a great solution. I'm very fit, great personality, awesome work ethic and deeply honest. I have a passport and I'm available when you are. I'm retired so i don't run on a clock or a calendar. :) Very open minded but congenial.
lahry4u@yahoo.com - let me hear from you. Give me a week notice, and I'm there. One plus, I do know how to cook some. And i love fish.

Hope to hear form you soon.

Need crew for sailing Cuba april 2015.
Are now on a long sailingtrip started in Oslo Norway 2august last year. The plan is North Atlantic in one year. The boat "Garibaldi" is a wood'n Colin Archer pilotcutter from 1989, 39 feet long. I'm a man 44 years old. When two of the permanent crew jumps of for some weeks in Cuba I need crew on one distance. The plan is from Puerto de Vita about 1april to Varadero on the north coast about 20 april. Then crossing over to Miami...
If you have some experience from sailing its desirable. Sailing this gaffrigged boat is good old fashion way with no winches. Can be learned. A good and safe sailboat.
If interested and want more info please contact!

We can help with sailing the boat and/or buy the booze. Flights out of Miami are $450 to Havana roundtrip but we want to make this unique trip by boat. Is anyone heading to Cuba? Anyone in Key West want to?!?

Happy to answer any questions. Thanks,

It will be a fun, laid back group, not a ton of sailing, lots of hanging out and although we won't be the rowdy boat compared to our peers, there will be lots of partying as well. Looking for someone laid back and knowledgeable, who will have a beer with us but we don't have to worry about having too many beers and not being able to drive the boat (Moorings 4600). Hey I will be in the area from around February to May and am looking for a short-term employment with no required sailing experience.

I can offer the following experiences:
- hospitality
- journalism and photography
- editing and translating web pages
- teaching (especially languages)
- babysitting
- housekeeping
Apart from that I am eager to learn anything required to keep the boat in a good condition. I am a fairly well cook but vegetarian, so probably not too skilled at preparing meat - however, i don´t require a vegetarian diet while on-board.

I am just seeking a bit of an adventure and would like to gain some experience sailing, as I have always wanted to do so. I am very open-minded and love to get to know new people.

I am trained in First Aid however this course was more outdoor/mountaineering related.

Hello all, I'm writing in hopes of finding a fun adventure post-graduation. I was originally hoping to either spend Carnival in Rio, learn Capoeira somewhere in Brazil, learn Brazilian Jujitsu somewhere, or learn some Argentine tango somewhere in Argentina. I figured, why not see if anyone else wanted to join in, and why not get more experience on a boat?

I have 6 years of experience in medicine, I'm first aid and CPR certified, am relatively fluent in Spanish, and I like to cook healthy food. I am also a professional fire dancer/circus performer, and am excited to share those skills with any interested parties. I have limited experience on a sailboat, but would like to learn more. So far, my limited experience includes navigating a 40 ft sailboat through some locks in Seattle, tying knots and hitches, and manning a tiller (very little experience, I know!).

Anyways, please feel free to get back at me if you want to collaborate on a fun adventure.

Thanks,

Z

If anybody is sailing from a British or Mediterranean port to the Caribbean in the next couple of months, I am looking for a passage across.

I am 24 years old and very fit; I crewed a (40") delivery from the BVIs to St. Martin last Autumn and worked for several months doing refits/repairs on yachts and cruisers in St. Maarten/Martin, so I know how to do fibreglass repairs, painting and prep, skin-fittings, mast-work etc. I have a reasonable grounding sailing dinghies and small boats, plus limited experience on yachts.

I know that I have slightly missed the boat timing-wise, but if for whatever reason a skipper is also looking to cross a bit later in the season than usual, I would be really grateful for the opportunity to join your boat - I want to build up my sea-miles and experience, and I also need to get back to St. Martin, where I was living for half of last year. However, a passage to anywhere in the Caribbean would be fine.

Thanks

I'm a retired Yachtmaster Ocean instructor and have many miles under my belt and a lot of experience to share. I look forward to hearing from you.

If anybody is sailing from St Martin to Antigua in the next couple of weeks and would like help keepng watches, I need to arrive there by 20 December for a flight.

I have helped deliver boats before and know the procedure. I have been working recently in refits/repairs on yachts and cruisers, and can make myself useful; I would also happily cook.

Hi!
We are 5 girls going to Cuba in March 2015. We would like to combine this trip with some sailing in the area (Cuba/Jamaica/Bahamas). Some of us have som experience, and others no experience, but we are all eager to learn more. So, would you like to have 5 jolly girls as crew on your sailboat when in Cuba? We prefere to sail together all five of us, but we understand that space can be an issue, so if we have to split up, we have to split up. We will be leaving Norway around the 7th of March. Two of us will be around for two weeks and three of us will be travellling for four weeks. If this is of intrest send me an email:lindaskryseth@gmail.com

Hallo everyone,

As part of our world travel, we are bringing a catamaran to Saint Martin.
We should arrive in/around one month and after that we would like to find a boat of the island and preferably towards the mainland of South America.

We are not looking for a charter, but of course it is negotiable what we have to pay for our share of the trip.

If you have place for an always happy French girl and an almost always happy Dutch guy, who are always up for sharing stories and having adventures and who can fit into almost any group of people, please contact us!?

Best regards,

Mélodie and Hans

P.S. We are going from Madeira today, so we will not have internet for some time. So it might take awhile for us to respond! ^^

If you are a Widespread Panic fan, if you are not a Widespread Panic fan you should check them out if you like southern jam rock and roll. They are from Georgia.
*** While i'm posting I am available to help with deliveries or charters. USCG 50ton Sail Aux, STCW, Maritime Security, and lots of sailing regatta experience. Looking to do some racing this season as well!! Thank to all! Hold Fast! GodSpeed!

While we were in the Cayman's I met a texan mariner whom was very generous in sharing his PDF format guides to Jamaica... and onward east.... They are written by Frank Virgintino, whom I was able to personally shake the hand of and say a big thank you when I met him at Marina ZarPar in Boca Chica, DR.

Thanks to him and his info on Île-à-Vache, Haiti... our crew were able to organise a charity drop to Sister Flora's infamous, though small orphange where her and the team do great work.

Hi, I am in Florida (Titusville), and looking for an experienced crew member interesting in island hoping through the Bahamas, and down to St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands following Bruce Van Sants, A Gentalmen Guild To Passages South. I had crew that was supposed to be joining me but got an offer to go sail across the South Pacific, and I am supposed to be in St. Thomas for the end of December, so I am looking to leave as soon as I can find suitable replacement crew. I am sailing on an Island Packet 38, and have taken this same trip before as first mate on a friends boat some 10-12 years ago, my sailing skills are a little rusty so I am looking for an experience crew member to help with the sailing, and enjoy the trip with. You would need to pay your own way to and from the boat, be able to cover your own personal expenses, and split the cost of the provisioning. If this interests you, and you are available to leave shortly, please message me and we can talk via phone and or skype and discuss things in more detail.

Thanks

Originally born and raised on the small island of St. Vincent in the Grenadines in the heart of the Carribean, is where lived until I was 9 years old. Moving to Canada at the age of 9 residing with family is where I currently maintain my life. I have visited back home many times on vacation and just recently in 2006 moved back to live for good. Though through circumstances I manage to move back to Canada where I live today. Working in the Carribean has always been a passion of mine especially on boats. My father owns his own tour company in the Carribean and maintains a fleet of boats. To no wonder an amazement I question how I am not employed by him today. I have always loved the ocean and since my years as a boy have always been around boats. I would love to eventually travel throughout more of the Carribean and help crew wherever I can.

Teacher on Sabbatical Looking for Learning Experience, Fun!!! By: Nancylee Replies: 2 Views: 104

Hi all,
I am a 52 year old, married, high school English teacher on a sabbatical until September. I messaged a bunch of people, but haven't heard much back. Now, you may think I'm old, but I am in good shape and because I am old, I am a very responsible person. But I am not an old fuddy duddy school marm!! I don't drink or smoke, but don't care if you do, and I am a pretty decent cook, good cleaner, great baker, although I doubt you need a wedding cake baked while cruising, and have a good sense of humor. Of course I do, I have taught high school for 23 years!! and survived!!

I am looking for a shared expense situation where I can pull my weight and learn how to sail. My sailing consists of sailing with a friend 35 years ago, outrunning a lightning storm in a 14 foot sailboat!! Great times!!! I always wanted to go back to it, and honestly, don't remember much, but am a quick learner and conscientious.

I grew up near the ocean in NJ, am very comfortable in the water and have a PADI scuba certification - do they even have PADI anymore?? I haven't scuba'd in over ten years. I taught, raised three kids, did dog rescue for six years, sold antiques, made jewelry, baked, lots of things, but now I need to get away from the frozen, endless northern NY winter!!!

If it sounds like I can help your crew, please send me a message? Thanks much,
Nancy

Hi Nancy--I love your description of yourself! Have you found a sailing gig yet? Looking for one for my 18 year old son possibly taking a gap year between high school and university studies in UK. I am based in Madrid, Spain and have a vacation home in www.vejer.com w link as follows--
http://www.tripadvisor.es/VacationRentalReview-g677776-d4373244-Casa_en_el_Casco_Antiguo_de_Vejer_Cadiz-Vejer_de_la_Frontera_Costa_de_la_Luz_Andalucia.html
There is the Barbate sailing port near Vejer, as well as Cádiz --- would you be interested in renting my house and intermittently doing sailing gigs from either Barbate, Cádiz or even Tarifa? There is a ferry that crosses the Straits to Morocco from Tarifa on hourly basis----so, a lot of variety for your sunshine adventure w base in Vejer---the area coastline is called "Costa de la Luz" (Coast of Light)---you may want to consider this as an option for your sabbatical year---it has the advantage of giving you a pueblo community and at same time enjoy seabound activities from a variety of nearby ports.

Look forward to hearing from you!

If you are NOT "an adventurer with some sailing experience and a track record in difficult/dangerous terrain. This description would of course include any experienced sailor who has logged significant ocean miles."

but you are "a sun lover who fancies 10 days cruising the Caribbean in 2015"

Then join one of the three Caribbean legs of the Ocean Sailing Club's "Ends of the Earth" Challenge. We are attempting to be the first yacht to sail in consecutive summers (of the same year!) between the world's two most extreme towns - from Ushuaia, behind Cape Horn, to Hammerfest some 400 miles into the Arctic Circle above Norway.

It's not all hard work. There will be a month of wafting about in the Caribbean between Trinidad and the British Virgin Islands for those of you who don't fancy sailing round Cape Horn and on to South Georgia for the centenary of Shackleton's Antarctic Expedition. Or a visit to Carnival in Rio.

If you'd like to cruise the Caribbean or log a North Atlantic Crossing, just Google "Ends of the Earth Challenge"

We are a couple(58-65) starting our retirement with a sailing trip for 10-12 days in the Grenadines in early May 2014. We are looking for an offer for
a crewed charter
captain only ( we will arrange bareboat)
bareboat offer( we will arrange captain)
Suggestions for a an itinerary.
We prefer a cat.
We have sailed a fair amount with crew. We would like to learn some Sailing too, but this may or may not happen. Also willing to exchange for accomodations in our inn in Manhattan.

If you look at my profile you can see I am in the process of chartering a Lagoon 450 for a two week sail around the Grenadines. I have a number of possible crew acceptances but it's not too late for me to change tack.
I have skippered Cats around the Caribbean for a number of years and have just returned from a very informative cruise around the Grenadines over Christmas and the New Year so I have the lay of the land now. I was crew (navigator) on this one.
I am not a professional skipper I do not expect to be paid (unless I am asked to do something I don;t particularly like!). Would be just happy to help out; financially as well if you like, providing it's a 450. I can also bring male or female others or not as the case may be. Over to you guys. Chris from the UK.

Couple available for crewing.Currently based in South Africa.

I have sailed from Durban, South Africa to Bazaruto and around the Solent. I am a hands on person and can tackle almost anything technical.

My wife has completed a Yacht hand course, she is also a qualified CA(SA).

Although planning to be in the States mid March, first prize is to sail there. Both non smokers. Believe we have a lot to offer, are hard workers and have the ability to get things done.

And, even though my experience is minimal, I'm a quick learner and open to any and all experiences thrown my way. I am completely willing to drop any existing plans for my immediate future, and accept offers to join you out on the open waters!

Hello,

My name is William Murphy and I'm a 23 year old college graduate traveling by backpacking on the north coast of Colombia. I am seeking to join as a crew member on a sailboat and see the various islands and countries surrounding the Caribbean.

As a child, I spent my summers on our families sailboat. Later in my teenage years, my father spent time as a harbor master at our local yacht club of over 130 sailboats. My experience sailing in adulthood is limited, but I have an understanding of basic sailing methods.

I come from a good family, have a degree in Business Administration from the University of Oregon, and have recently finished a 15 month stint of employment with a Major League Soccer Club in the United States. As of right now, I'd like to spend sometime exploring the open seas and taking on a new adventure.

Below I've attached a link to my LinkedIn profile. It is essentially a professional resume. Upon request, I'd be happy to sending further information and link you to my Facebook page. I'm also happy to Skype chat too!

Hope to hear from ya!

Hi everyone. Since I had a lot of interest registered regarding my advert for the forthcoming adventure in February 2014 , I would like to clarify few things. We are looking for 3 persons with the capabilities to arrive in Cuba at their own expense and be able to pay the shared cost of 1200 usd . Deposit of 300 usd will be required at the beginning of November in order to secure their place. Hope this helps. My apologies to anyone I couldn't manage to answer. I appreciate your time spent in reading this. Thanks. Miro

Could you clarify what $1200 is for and for how long? Paying a deposit of $300 to secure a place? This sounds more like a charter. I would not recommend anyone send any money until they've met you in person and been shown around the boat.

miro.tn Posted: 2013-10-30 22:12
Dear Webmaster, thank you for your comments and suggestion. $1200 will cover the cost for a person to stay on board during the trip. Anyone is more than welcome to meet me in the United Kingdom, and will be shown around the boat in Panama, before it reaches Cuba, it is down to everyone's imagination how this can be done,my imagination is not capable of doing it. Deposit is required, as we are in no position to haggle around with people who are not serious. The deposit is the only way for someone to say : Yes, I will be there . We would more likely call it an adventure, despite the fact that it sounds like a charter to your team. I do appreciate your efforts in trying to clarify all this, but this boat will go from Cuba to Varna with or without any extra crew from this ,or another similar site. Crossing the Atlantic is not like going to the corner shop down the road, and the free stuff around this Planet is long gone. Unfortunately I am unable to answer to the question 'how long' , as we have not yet found a way to communicate with the winds or we may decide to stay few more days in Bermudas or Azores. My apologies for wasting everybody's time reading this.
Regards . Miro

Firstly I have to apologies for making this sound like a charter, i simply miss read your destination for a port in the Caribbean so you can understand why I queried this. All the CB team have crossed the pond quite a few times so we understand this is no charter.

However..
I do understand your position in terms of only getting serious people in, but isn't a meeting via Skype, phone or in person plus a booked flight ticket to Cuba proof enough? The problem I have is crew giving people money before they get to the boat. I recently had an email from a group of young lads who all gave deposits for positions on a boat (not from CB) crossing the Atlantic from Morocco. It turned out the boat wasn't sea worthy and the owner had used all their money to pay back personal debts. This person Richard Sydney-Smith aka 'ricardon', found on another crewing site, still has their money and these lads (i believe) never found the boat they were looking for.

As for the free stuff on this planet. Crewbay's still free!

I hope you have a safe journey

Dear Webmaster, thank you very much for the good luck wished. I presume there are people using this website improperly. But as I said - this trip will happen with or without any extra members, if we can not find the number of crew required here, we will get it somehow in another way. We are in no position to wait for someone to turn up in Cuba, and say : no, I am not coming. I believe I understood the whole point of having this website here : meet people from all around the world to sail around the world. We also believe, that the price shown reflects a normal daily expense on board of around $20 - $30 . Please correct me if we are getting this wrong, we will appreciate any help in this matter. And also a thought : the deposit would also verify, that there is a relative quantity of trust existing between the people on board. We will all rely on each other at some point over there, We do not want deposit from people who will live with the impression, that their money will be stolen. People who do not believe us are not welcome. Good luck to everyone. Miro

crewbaywebmaster Posted: 2013-11-03 13:36
I don't question you're costs concerning daily rates now I'm clear on your destination, I'm concerned with crew transferring money before they get to Cuba. I would have to advise any crew thinking of joining you, to meet you in the UK to talk the trip through and if this isn't geographically possible then Skype at the very least. I think this would also be a good ice breaker before booking the flight.

On a different note. This sound like stonking mile builder for someone and a great adventure. I wish I had the time to join you myself!

Good luck to you and your crew.

I am one of the 6 'crew' who thought we had found a passage with the aforementioned man Richard Sydney-Smith. Collectively we lost thousands of euros but at least learnt a valuable lesson: NEVER give a deposit without seeing the boat yourself! I don't believe Richard was even setting out to deceive us and even if I had met him in person I probably still would've handed over the money.

The boat however was unfit to go anywhere, with rust penetrating through the steel hull. I still never sailed with him but given the stories I've heard and knowing him I would say he's not a competent captain.

Again, no matter what the intentions may be, I highly recommend not giving any deposit without meeting the skipper and seeing the boat yourself. As for the quote from miro.tn "The deposit is the only way for someone to say : Yes, I will be there", I completely disagree.

BE WARY and good luck to all!

Dear theplanetweinhabit,
I am sorry to understand that you had a bad experience with your sailing intentions. I promise you, that your huge experience in organizing and funding Atlantic crossings on sailing vessels will be very carefully and accordingly considered. Your help with all the related matters will be much appreciated. We feel more than lucky to have your experience shared on topics or posts, where we actually try to gather people together and make the process easier. For example, we would like to hear more from you regarding this year's Gulf Stream movements and weather we should postpone the departure from Cuba with two weeks and sail away on 15/02 instead of the intended 01/02 ?. Also, the boat will be surveyed in Cuba by a chartered surveyor , but it looks like we might be using your expert services regarding this matter. Please advise. Thanks. Miro

theplanetweinhabit Posted: 2013-11-11 17:48
miro, firstly I'm not going to waste my time having needless arguments over an internet forum, and I'm surprised that you seem to want that given you're organising a sailing trip and surely have better things to do.

Given your answer you obviously didn't like what I had to say, but I did not for one moment mean it as a personal attack on you. I have since then had even more experiences with captains that have only strengthened my position on this matter, which is not to pay anything or book anything until meeting the captain and the boat.

Your sarcastic reply obviously highlights my lack of sailing experience. I never claimed to be anything but a beginner, but nothing you wrote changes anything I have experienced or written. You have simply written a reply suggesting you don't want to hear what I have to say, without addressing a single issue I brought up.

Everything I wrote still stands, and I only hope that you and your crew have a good experience.

miro.tn Posted: 2013-11-11 18:37
We do not believe there are any issues to be brought up. These are OUR conditions for anyone willing to get on that boat for this particular trip and probably we have them, because we might have been misled by people waving with their both hands 'count me in, I'm 100% on,count me in' and then suddenly unforeseen circumstances stop them to show up,suddenly all internet connection is lost and all phones loose reception and go to voice-mail..........Got the T-shirt. Get in my shoes, mate, before bringing issues up. This trip will give the necessary mileage for a Yachtmaster for the fraction of the cost, so our terms will STAY , despite the fact that the vast majority of readers will not accept them. That's fine, we understand, but we have our reasons and we believe that this is not the place to get in details explaining them. Thank you very much for the best wishes and pardon my sarcasm. Miro

Hello all :)
We are Tery and Ivan - a Bulgarian couple looking for any opportunity to sail from Saint Martin to any other island south or even direct to South America. We are very motivated to crew, to help on board, to work hard if needed. Both non smokers, no drugs, vegetarians. Clean and tidy, responsible. We are very experienced travelers, i hitchhiked alone all Africa, Asia, Europe, Australia and NZ, Ivan traveled in North America, all Europe, Australia and NZ. We have plenty of stories to share, very positive attitude and you won't regret taking us on board. Not much sailing experience but very excited to learn! Ivan has been on a sailing boat for two days and on the windsurf for 8 years :) He also knows how top work with fiberglass, wood and tools. I have been on a sailing boat only one day (unfortunately) and want to fix that. Would love to hear from someone who is going our direction or if you are now in Saint Martin and not going our way but need any help for your boat, we are volunteers to help you with anything we can. We spend all our time near the marinas so it would be great to do something useful while we are here. Just write me - blackbeauty@abv.bg

We have just finished a very successful summer season on board a 15 metre yacht in the Cyclades Greek islands, which is known for its challenging sailing conditions. This year it was the windiest summer on record and we experienced F6 winds plus for a continual period of 9 weeks. Despite this we managed to keep to the set Itinerary and now we are looking for our next positions. Steve is a Captain/Skipper and holds his Yachtmaster licence with commercial endorsement and is a Cruising Instructor. Samantha has been working as Hostess and Mate and is happy to switch between roles, preparing meals for guests, provisioning, helping with all areas of sailing and maintenance, assisting guests in learning how to sail and managing shore side logistics. We are looking for a joint job in the Caribbean. Thanks for reading any contacts or interest please reply.

26 year old male, looking to get experience at sea. I know the basics and, SCUBA certified.

I'm not too concerned about destination but the stranger, the better (also, places where the USD goes a long way). I'm currently in the US but I can meet up anywhere in the Americas.

I'm used to roughing it and living in tight quarters. I'm hardworking, ready to learn and all that junk.

Cheers!
John

Hey ya'll! I am looking to get me feet wet in a sailing position. I have some introductory sailing experience, doing a semester abroad in the caribbean on Seamester. I am a super hard worker, willing and ready to learn! Easy going and easy to get along with. I have a degree in Biology and nursing, so I could potentially teach, pending certification, and save lives! :-)

I am a 25 year old fit male from Ottawa, Canada. Recently quit my job to travel throughout Central and South America for the next year (mas o menos). Have always wanted to learn how to sail but have never had the opportunity. Looking for the chance to sail throughout the Caribbean coast on a boat where I can hopefully learn lots. I am very sociable, hardworking, easy-going and enjoy rum, cards, laughs and good conversation. I can cook, clean and scrape barnicles off your feet if you are willing to take me with you and teach me a little (or a lot) about sailing. Currently in Belize but will be along the coast of Guatemala and Honduras shortly.

I can promise you I will be great company and a competent crew member that you will be able to count on.

Hi everyone
just a warning about a crew member that cannot be recommended. I was approached by a Belgium citizen, wanting to crew. I arranged for her to sail from Tobago and I need to warn fellow captains that the individual - one Nancy Lybaert is not to be trusted on your yacht, under any circumstances. Be warned - you will have endless problems with immigration and police when you try to sign her off.

We are a couple very keen to gain experience as crew. Genuine, fun, honest and easy-going - we will make excellent companions for a cruise. Keen to share all duties of the voyage including watch-keeping, cooking, cleaning etc.

We also like to surf, Kitesurf, Dive and Fish. We are fast learners and will make a great addition to any boat. We cook well too.

Is there anyone sailing between the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico in
the next few months who would be willing to support a Cambridge
University/British Museum archaeological project on Isla Mona and Isla
Saona? Myself (Dr Alice Samson, Cambridge University) and colleague Dr Jago
Cooper (Curator of the Americas, British Museum) are carrying out a
precolumbian survey project and require transport in exchange for permits to
visit these beautiful national parks and access to exciting archaeology.
